Hotel Playa Real Beach Resort

The hotel is located in Juan Dolio, near the beach of Villas del Mar, within a 30 minute drive from Las Americas International Airport, 10 minutes from the town of San Pedro de Macoris, and one hour from the colonial zone of Santo Domingo and its wonderful historical monuments.

Of international standard, the Playa Real boasts a high quality spa and a variety of activities, including water sports, part of the all inclusive service. You won't get bored. But its architecture, a little bit too "concrete", has no charm.

With its small hall in red rustic stone from which you can see the sea, the reception of the Playa Real is rather pleasant. But as soon as you cross the entrance, the architecture of the hotel presents no interest. The buildings do not have any particular charm, though renovated in 2003, and are made of concrete blocks painted in faded green, yellow and pink. The concrete walkways lack flowers. It is a pity, because the hotel is well equipped: its fitness centre and beauty parlour are both high-end quality. Special mention for the spa centre, which opened doors in April 2004. Modern, air-conditioned, clean and pleasantly scented, it features mahogany furniture and a vast area, because it extends to the gardens with a large Jacuzzi. Gentle music plays on the background, a massage space is hidden under a rotunda, peace... You can relax. Oddly enough, the swimming pool for children, composed of two pools, is big enough but too small and very shallow for adults.

A total of 391 rooms are divided into four buildings of four floors each. Of comfortable size (237 ft²), each room has wooden furniture on a tiled floor, bright and beautifully decorated. All are equipped with two double beds, air conditioning and a ceiling fan, cable TV (56 channels), telephone, a marble bathroom with a bath, a hair dryer and a balcony with a table and two chairs in plastic. No mini-bar.

With four restaurants and many bars, the hotel offers a wide choice of cuisine. It is composed of a main restaurant, serving buffet style, focusing on international cuisine, with wooden furniture, beautiful tablecloths and a sea view. It transforms into a snack bar at night. Three a la carte restaurants can offer you pleasant cuisine if you reserve a table: Mexican (air conditioned), seafood (grilled) and Italian. The latter restaurant, which is very large and colourful, is situated under a rotunda on the seafront and operates as a snack bar during the day. The grill restaurant (a la carte) is located on the beach protruding far into the water. The view from its terrace is pleasant and unobstructed, but it cuts the beach into two parts.

Sports lovers will find their happiness on the beach, equipped with deckchairs under palm trees, in an animated ambiance. Many water sports are offered and various activities - music - never absent. The water is clear without being translucent, yet beautiful for the region. The strip of sand, dark and grainy in this part of the island, is narrow.
