CharmCharm, nature and relaxation: the Central Karon Village interprets with verve this seducing trilogy, thus compensating the little weakness of being a bit far from the beach.
On the northern end of Karon Beach, the second most frequented beach in Phuket after Patong. Phuket Town, on the east coast, is 12.5 miles away. The airport is around 25 miles north (around 45 minutes by car).
The circulation on the steep site of the hotel is by small motorised buggies, available free of charge to the guests all day long. The hotel management, to keep the environment-friendly approach of the hotel, plans to develop soon a butterfly stock and place an informative labelling on each tree specie. For sports, not available at the hotel, the guests can access the Central Waterfront Suites in Karon Beach, which belongs to the same group. It has a swimming pool, a fitness club, a sauna, squash rooms and tennis courts. The Cenral Karon Village Phuket is part of a hotel chain renowned in Thailand, which especially owns a similar hotel in Phuket with same architecture and management principles.
Installed on the very steep side of a hill in the northern extremity of Karon Beach, the Central Karon Village plays the card of charm, nature and relaxation with a complex of bungalows arranged all along the slope and served by a winding concrete path or stairs. The common areas are all at the top -a very nice round lobby and a restaurant with a terrace and a spectacular view of Karon bay- and at the bottom of the site (swimming pool, bar and massage and relaxation area). The sea breaks on big rocks just by the hotel. Since the construction of the hotel in 1989, the environment has been kept as it was, which gives to the establishment an extremely charming "jungle" style (with perfect modern comfort...).
There is only one room category at the Central Karon Village: the Deluxe villas (64 total). They have a very wide area (more than 323 square feet), are all oriented towards the sea and benefit from a comfortable wooden terrace in front of the entrance. The architects definitely wanted to enhance brightness: bay windows (which you cover at night with lovely rolling rattan blinds) are on two sides of each bungalow (or even on three for some bungalows) and two light shafts are provided for each bathroom. The bathroom is very big and nicely decorated with yellow ochre colours (there is also a small aquarium), and is superb, even if there is no bathtub. Nothing to say about the equipment: everything is there, also a suspended mosquito net above the bed...
Two restaurants share the guests of the Central Karon Village: the Cliff Restaurant, directed by a French chef, offers dishes of French and Mediterranean tradition, while the Bayview Restaurant combines Thai gastronomy and classics of the international cuisine. Both of them have a good level of catering and benefit from an enchanting setting with an impressive view of the bay. In high season the hotel organises a theme gastronomy evening every day.
This is the weakness: the hotel does not have direct access to the beach, and you need to go to Karon Beach (on foot, it will take from five to ten minutes, so preferably by shuttle, which is free) to go in the sea. Vaster than that of Patong and especially less heavily taken over by the seaside business, Karon beach offers more relaxation possibilities. The very good quality water of the Andaman Sea, with a satisfactory level, will also satisfy swimming lovers.
