Hotel Flamingo Beach

The Flamingo Beach hotel is located on the edge of the sea, at the entrance to Larnaca, along a road bordered by small shops and bars. You have to walk about 1.5 miles (15 minutes by foot) to get downtown. The proximity to the airport compromises the change of scene.

Built in 1983, the Flamingo Hotel is badly located near the airport. The road that separates the sea is, also very busy. But the hotel is not very large (4 levels) and the outdoor terrace faces the sea. The interior is in good condition, but a little old looking. Very few facilities are provided for sport or relaxation - a sauna, an outdoor pool and a bar - a little sad, on the roof. An interesting point: Larnaca and its old district are not too far away (1 mile).

None of the 65 rooms offers a sea view and the surrounding landscape is not one of the nicest (airport, field under construction, suburbs....). However, they are quite spacious and they offer a nice level of comfort. The wooden furniture is quite neutral, but refined. All the rooms are equipped with a satellite TV, a direct telephone line, an adjustable air-conditioning, a mini-bar (by request and without any additional fees), a balcony (frequent vis-a-vis) and a spacious bathroom with bathtub.

Meals are served buffet-style only. The cuisine, mainly international, doesn't offer too many local specialities. The only restaurant is quite austere, the tables are a little too close to one another. The hotel has only one bar overlooking a sundeck.

The beach is far below the general standard of Cyprus beaches. You have to cross over a very busy road to get there, the grey sand is not clean and the surrounding area (planes, hotels on the verge of the road) is not really pleasant. Beach chairs and sunshades can be rented, a restaurant and a bar are very close. No water sports available.
