Animation
RestThe Princess Beach offers a good level of services, but it is spoiled by the gloomy beach. Due to its pretty complete animation schedule, it is mainly recommended for families and guests seeking organised leisure activities.
The hotel is located on the edge of the water on Larnaca bay, 4 miles away from downtown. There is no real city in this area but an artificial zone (shopping centres, restaurants, bars and numerous hotels) on both sides of the street that goes along the sea. To reach the hotel from Larnaca airport (located 6 miles away), you will need 15 minutes.
Dinners are usually accompanied by live background music.
Vegetarian meals or menus for diabetic people are available by request.
Built in 1989, the Princess Beach offers a total of 72 rooms housed in a huge white 5-level building and 66 bungalows, small 2-level buildings in Mediterranean style (tiles, mezzanine). A small floral walkway gets you to the pool (semi-olympic) which is surrounded by bungalwos but well hidden on both sides by heavy rows of banana trees and southern plants. An animation schedule (adults and kids) with small shows, games and sports competitions also a course in Greek, are scheduled from May to October.
Most of the rooms offer a pleasant sea or garden view (48 rooms) or a view of the pool and the garden (all the bungalows). 24 rooms overlook the inside of the property (risk of noise due to the closeness of the road). The decoration is pleasant: flooring, warm coloured fabrics, plain functional bathrooms. All the rooms are equipped with satellite TV, direct telephone line, adjustable air-conditioning, a well-filled mini-bar, a large balcony (2 chairs and a small table), or a private sundeck and a spacious bathroom with bathtub. The room service allows you to order meals until midnight.
All meals are served buffet style and are copious. The cuisine is both local and international. Thematic evenings (antique Greece, beach-party...) entertain the dinners. You can have lunch or breakfast in a decent-sized room open to the outside through large bay-windows. The dinners are served in a more formal setting (carpet, white tableclothes) with an intimate atmosphere. The very nice beach restaurant, a sort of large shaded sundeck located right behind the pool, serves a la carte local dishes, grills, salads and snacks until 6 PM. 2 bars make the services complete.
The lawn areas, right behind the pool, open directly onto a small beach. Unfortunately, it is oddly lacking in charm: coarse sand scattered with pebbles, sea water that is not really clear, the difference in level requires you to walk about 165 feet before being able to swim. The restaurant is a good place to spend a nice time. There are various water sports offered (if you prefer diving, the hotel will recommend an outside company).
