Hotel Baie du Galion Resort and Goelette Suites

Located near the fishing village of Tartane, 5 miles from La Trinité, on the northern coast of the peninsula of La Caravelle, the Baie du Galion Resort is 21 miles from Fort-de-France and 20 miles (40 minutes) from Le Lamentin airport.

The Baie du Galion Resort sells "all inclusive" packages. It belongs to the hotel chain, Karibea. The hotel has no beach, but a free sea shuttle allows you to get to the beach of Tartane, which is very close. The Baie du Galion Resort and the Goelette Suites are two groups of buildings, formerly sold separately, but which today are sold together. They use the same reception, and customers housed in one building can have access to the swimming pool and the bar at the other building. All clients go to the same restaurant for lunch and dinner, located next to the building of the Baie du Galion.

Perched on the hillside, the Baie du Galion Resort has two swimming pools, one on the side where the suites are, and the other on the side where the rooms are located. One of them is original, with two pools and two water slides, 3,500 ft² in area, spanned by a small bridge. The hotel also has a panoramic restaurant and two bars, each near a swimming pool. The hotel offers an unobstructed view of the peninsula of La Caravelle and the fishing village of Tartane located just below. From there, you can also see Sainte-Marie and Mount Pelée. A weekly entertainment program is organized: folklore groups, karaoke, dancing with a disk jockey, video on the island of Martinique, a Creole costume parade, exhibitions of handicrafts and local market...

The hotel has 178 rooms and very nice junior suites housed in several buildings of three levels, facing the sea. The rooms offering a view of the sea or the garden, are accessible by elevators and stairs. All rooms within the hotel complex are equipped with air conditioning, a refrigerator, a safe, direct dial telephone, television. The rooms, 290 ft², have a balcony and are furnished in colonial style with mahogany wood. 27 rooms communicate. Each room has a bathroom with a shower. Some rooms are equipped with a kitchenette. Each with an area of 323 ft² (plus a terrace of 54 ft², with a kitchenette), the 38 junior suites can accommodate 3 adults or 2 adults and 2 children in a room with a double bed, separated from the bedroom by a sliding door. The bathrooms have showers.

The hotel offers the all-inclusive package. Le Surcouf is a panoramic restaurant, with a view of the sea, overlooking the huge swimming pool. French and Creole cuisine is served buffet style for all three meals. You can blame the restaurant a bit for the line-ups at the buffet, and the lack of space. The snack service operates from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.

La Brèche Beach lies 150m away from the resort and you have to cross a road to get to it. There are no particular amenities to speak of, other than a bar and a restaurant, and the sand isn't very soft because it is littered with shells. You can make out the coral reef in the distance. Boats can use the wooden pontoon for mooring. This rather busy beach is a little bit cramped for space but one of the free shuttles can take you to the beaches of Tartane, Hardy and Anse Etang.
