Our pickIn the northern village of Le François (4 miles), this hotel is 2 miles from the main road D1. It is accessible by a small tarmac road in its first half but then it becomes a little bit bumpy and jolting. Le Lamentin airport is 11 miles away (25 minutes) and Fort-de-France is 16 miles away.

The Plein Soleil hotel is not located on the seafront. It is not very far from the white shoals (islands and sandbars) in Le François; it is at the mid-point of the road between beautiful beaches of southern and norther parts of the island. The hotel's owners have entered into agreements with local fishermen to take their guests to the islands and the white sandbars for a small charge (you can find the boats about 1,312 ft from the hotel).
A small facility with only 12 rooms and 4 suites with private swimming pools, flat screen tvs, wireless Internet access, a mini-bar and telephone, the Plein Soleil is like no other hotel in Martinique. Its size, its location, its decor and reception fascinates you by reflecting a philosophy and a lifestyle hardly attainable in a large chain hotel complex. Located on a hill, the establishment consists of a central building with traditional architecture, which houses, behind its white walls, a reception area, a room decorated entirely in the style of Africa and the large terrace of the restaurant. The restaurant has beautiful wooden furniture and offers, in addition to magnificently decorated tables, a pleasant view of the sea. All around are bungalows in pastel colours and a swimming pool, accessible by way of a paved road, smothered in groves of hibiscus and perched on the gentle slopes of the terrain.
Large and bright, the rooms of the Plein Soleil (270 and 540 ft²) display carefully selected decor: warmed by the wood, cooled by the terracotta tiles, furniture with soft lines, blinds allowing natural ventilation (although air conditioning is also installed) and a large terrace inviting you to take a nap. Again, everything contributes to create an intimate and relaxed atmosphere. The rooms are equipped with a bathroom, telephone and a kitchenette.
The cuisine of the Plein Soleil is of good quality. The "table d'hôtes" restaurant offers gourmet cuisine, which utilises mainly fresh produce purchased the same day in the market at Le François. The seafood dishes are most often given the place of honour. The Plein Soleil has a good wine list and plans to enrich it with more great wines (also planned: a cigar cellar).
