CharmThis is a welcoming place to advise mainly for lovers of idleness. The beach that stretches in front of the hotel is pleasant, and the tropical vegetation provides an immediate change of scene.
This hotel review is a translation from the French, published on our French site, Easyvoyage.com.
The hotel is located on the seafront on the site of Morne Brabant, 18.6 miles away from Quatre-Bornes and 37 miles away from the airport accessible in 1 hour.
With French speaking customers, this charming and welcoming hotel is located at the edge of one of the most beautiful beaches on the island ... Les Pavillons have definitely a lot of advantages. Thanks to its independent villas, the establishment will be convenient for couples in search of intimacy, and for families who will find all the necessary equipments (clubs, many activities ).
Built in 1997, the hotel was renovated in 1999. It blends in with the tropical vegetation that surrounds it, just at the foot of Morne. The hotel is composed of independent one-storey houses facing the sea. The architecture is inspired by Mauritian traditional houses : metal sheet roofs and façades with bright colours, with a crank ( a sheltered terrace ). Quite geometrical, the 200 m² swimming pool overlooks the lagoon. You can relax nicely all around, lying on a deckchair, close to canvas sunshades.
The hotel has a total of 149 rooms, including 124 standard rooms spreading on 42 m² ( on the ground floor or on the upper floor ), 15 superior rooms spreading on 48 m² on upper floor and 10 junior suites spreading on 52 m². All the rooms overlook the sea. Attention, however : some rooms on the ground-floor have as a view a huge concrete staircase that could be more spacious and more hidden. The rooms downstairs are equipped with a small terrace and those lying on the upper floors with a balcony. The standard room has a bathroom ( with bathtub, shower and hair dryer), satellite TV, a safe, air conditioning, a mini-bar, direct telephone line for international dialling and a balcony ( on the upper floors ) or terrace ( on the ground floor ). The decoration, very bright, combines energetic colours ( green and yellow ) with wood and wrought iron. The room service is available until midnight.
There are three restaurants. The main restaurant "The star of the seas" has a capacity of up to 260 place settings. It is open for breakfast ( buffet ) and dinner. In the evening, theme buffets alternate with fixed menus. As its name suggests it, the restaurant located on the beachfront "Le bénitier" ( for 50 people ) has seafood specialities : lobster and giant prawns have pride of place on its menu. Finally, the Mediterranean restaurant "Le Provence" ( 60 seats ) offers a sunny cuisine with Italian hints. These two restaurants serve a la carte.
The golden sand beach is longer than wide ( 500 m x 20 m ). The water in the lagoon is crystal clear. The beach is properly shaded, quiet and little windswept. It has all the necessary amenities. You can practice free water skiing, snorkeling (equipment supplied), banana, ringo, sailing, windsurfing, kayaking and pedalo. Allow some extra payment for bottle diving and game fishing.
