Hotel Carayou

Located at the extremity of La Pointe du Bout (Les Trois-Ilets), south of the Bay of Fort-de-France and a stone's throw from the picturesque village, Le Carayou is located 14 miles from the airport at Le Lamentin (25 minutes) and 20 miles from the capital of the island (30 minutes).

Le Carayou enjoys a privileged situation on the peninsula of La Pointe de Bout. If the beach of the hotel seems too small, you can always go to the beach of Anse Mitan, a 5 minute walk away. Finally, it is very easy to get to Fort-de-France by way of a sea shuttle setting off from the marina nearby. An animation team offers activities everyday at 3 p.m.: water aerobics, dance... Karaoke and dancing parties are also organised.

Built in 1975 (renovated in 1995) in a tropical garden of 7.5 acres, Le Carayou hotel houses a total of 201 rooms in several two-storey buildings with traditional Creole architecture. To the left of the main reception, there is a beautiful swimming pool, sheltered from the wind, surrounded by a teak deck and equipped with deck chairs and parasols. There is also a kids pool. Le Carayou hotel has two restaurants and two bars, one of which is on the beach and the other beside the swimming pool, very pleasant, with cosy decor.

The 201 rooms of Le Carayou are not very large (approximately 161 ft²). They are bright and well equipped. Decorated in shades of white and blue, they all have air conditioning, satellite TV, a bathroom with a shower and a hair dryer, telephone, a safe and a balcony. The toilets are separate. The Carayou hotel has 10 rooms adapted for disabled guests and some 20 rooms which can be connected.

The two restaurants, one of which overlooks the swimming pool (a large room with numerous tables), and another, more pleasant, on the beach as an alternative. Both restaurants offer service a la carte at noon and breakfast and dinner buffet style around a particular theme. The cuisine, good, focuses on international and Creole specialities.

The artificial beach of Le Carayou hotel is quite small but has excellent facilities (deck chairs and parasols), fine sand and clear water. This beach houses a sailing base of good quality. It is the only side exposed to the Atlantic Ocean that gives you the chance to do kite surfing. Exposed to the wind, it delights sailing fans. Sunbathing fans should not worry, they are somewhat protected from the wind as they bask in a small cove.
