Hotel Ajax

The hotel is located in an out of the way area of Limassol, about 2,625 feet from the waterfront and same distance from downtown (15 minutes on foot). The surrounding areas are rather quiet but they do not offer many interesting points, even if you walk. To reach the hotel from Larnaca airport (located 31 miles away), you will need 35 minurtes.

Dinners are usually accompanied by live background music.

Built in 1991, the Ajax hotel offers a total of 180 rooms housed in a 6-level building the outside facade of which looks imposing despite the arched architecture. The interior decoration displays joyful patches of colour (mostly ochre), the furniture is in very good condition, but doesn't really have character (rattan chairs, heavy cushions and colourful fabrics), imitations of bas-reliefs on the walls. Outside, a beautiful pool (semi-olympic size) surrounded by a few palm trees and lots of beach chairs is available for your leisure moments. A small pool is available for children also. The fitness facilities (fitness aparatus, aerobics room, massage and beauty salon) are of good quality. But the overall appearance of the place - surrounded by lawn areas and straight concrete paths, is really charmless.

The standard rooms are spacious, bright and comfortable, decorated with wooden furniture and warm fabrics. They are carpeted, equipped by a satellite TV, a direct telephone line, adjustable air-conditioning, a balcony with a small table and two chairs. The bathrooms are pretty spacious with bathtub and towels for the pool. The weak spot is the view, not really interesting, of the city suburbs. There is a kettle to make yourself coffee or tea. Only the rooms on the 5th and 6th floor offer a mini-bar. The hotel also has 4 suites, more spacious and more luxurious, equipped with a fax machine. Room service is available until midnight.

The meals are served buffet-style only, different evening themes (Italian, Cypriot, steakhouse). The 230 guests room is decorated with care. The local and international cuisine, is nice, without being special. A good selection of local and international wines is available. A snack bar allows you to order a la carte dishes and to take your lunch inside or outside on the sundeck. The hotel has two bars (the pool bar and the lobby bar).

The hotel shuttle leaves the guests at the foot of a long beach located at the entrance to the city (a 5-minute ride): noisy, seldom or never cleaned at all and with a direct view of the cargo ships from the industrial port located 1 mile away. Plus, the place is also skirted by a wide 4-lane highway, hard to cross over. You have to walk a little distance to find fine sand, clear water and a nice view, where the beach becomes wider and is hidden from the highway by a heavy row of trees. It's up to you to find a renter if you want to practice water sports. They are located at pretty equal distances.
