Hotel Marquês de Pombal

The Marques de Pombal hotel stands on Liberdade Avenue, a stone's throw away from Edward VII Park. It is very close to public transport and not far from the airport shuttle stop. The city centre is about a quarter of an hour away on foot. The airport is a 20 minute-drive away.

The Marques de Pombal is a relatively recent hotel. It opened its doors in 2000, and therefore looks quite modern at first sight, but the interior decoration can sometimes be quite old-fashioned. The lobby is quite large and well lit, and there is a computer in the corner which enables guests to surf on the web. The television lounge will give you the opportunity to relax; a few books and magazines are also left at your disposal. There is also a bar which serves cocktails throughout the day and night, and in the morning it serves breakfast from 10:30am to 12:00pm. Snacks are then served for lunch and dinner. The sports enthusiasts among you can unwind at the gym then relax in the sauna or the hammam.

The Marquel de Pombal has a total of 123 rooms spread over 10 floors. The bedrooms are identically decorated, except for the colour scheme. The light wood furniture is old-fashioned, as is the rest of the decoration, really. All possible amenities are provided in the rooms, from a television, telephone and internet access, to a hi-fi system, ironing board, minibar and safe; but they all lack any kind of originality or character. As for the bathrooms, they are equipped with a bathtub, a hair-dryer, a telephone and hospitality products. Decorated with beige tiles, their style is classic and clean-cut.

There is a room in the hotel which is entirely reserved for breakfast, served as a buffet. The room has no windows but it is still quite pleasant. It is decorated with a lot of wood, such as the floorboards, for example. There is also a restaurant, with a view of the street, which serves lunch and dinner. All meals are served à la carte, in a setting which is meant to be refreshing, with its interior shades of yellow and blue.
