The Real Palacio is a 5-star hotel located in a quiet neighbourhood on the heights of Lisbon. The hotel is housed in a 17th-Century building and has a certain charm about it, despite the fact that its Standard guest rooms are a little cramped for a 5-star establishment.
The Real Palacio is located on the heights of Lisbon in a rather quiet and charming residential area close to the Sao Sebastiao metro station.
The spa here is small but all the facilities are of a high quality and a jacuzzi or sauna can be the ideal way to round off a long day's sightseeing in the Portuguese capital. The hotel has a strict no smoking policy throughout.
On arrival at the hotel you'll find yourself in the reception area just in front of the 17th-Century lounge, which has recently been renovated to closely reflect the original style. This is really a very pleasant place to come and relax, its charming furniture and decor creating a sophisticated and luxurious ambience. The hotel operates a no-smoking policy throughout, though there is a lovely patio area furnished with tables and comfortable chairs where smokers can get their fix if need be. Most of the hotel's facilities are located on the basement level of the building, where, you might be surprised to find, they have managed to create some rather welcoming surroundings. Take, for example, the buffet-restaurant, a bright, pleasant room with decor so colourful you'll find it hard to believe you're in the basement. The same is true of the spa, also located on the basement level, which is adorned with blue mosaics making it the ideal place for a spot of relaxation.
The cramped Standard guest rooms and bathrooms here are really not worthy of the hotel's 5-star rating. If you do decide to stay at this hotel, go for a Superior room or a Suite if you really want to feel like you're staying at a 5-star establishment. These rooms are pretty spacious and are furnished with high-quality beige and white furniture made with materials which really bring something special to the surroundings.
The hotel's restaurant, Real, is only open in the morning, when it serves an impressive buffet breakfast consisting of fresh produce, many different breads and eggs cooked to your liking, among other delights. Lunch and dinner, meanwhile, are served in the elegant and sophisticated surroundings of the Guarda Real restaurant. This restaurant opens on to the street and attracts a large number of non-residents thanks to its good reputation across Lisbon.
