In the same style as neighbouring historical city centre hotels, the Antiq is a small boutique offering boasting plenty of charm. This family-owned and run four-star hotel is housed in a building which dates back to the 16th century and appears like a grand home in the centre of Ljubljana. The highlight is no doubt the multi-tiered garden terrace, perfect on sunny days.
In the historical heart of Ljubljana with restaurants and boutiques as its neighbours, the Antiq Hotel is barely a five minute walk to the Triple Bridge. The airport is about a 30 minute drive away.
Due to the absence of a restaurant (breakfast room only), there is no 'Food and Drink' score. The hotel offers a B&B meal plan only.
WIFI connection is free throughout the hotel and in the garden, but there are also two computers available for guest use on the first and second floor.
Last renovated in 2010, the Antiq Hotel consists of 16 rooms including (2 apartments) in a 4-storey building (there are no rooms on the ground floor). The small lobby opens on to a large sitting room decorated with gilt framed mirrors, crystal light fittings, objets d'art and curtains in opulent fabrics. A small bar sits at one end and leads to the breakfast rooms. The common areas of the hotel are unique indeed as they are awash in antiques furnishings and paintings. For us, the best thing at the Antiq Hotel is multi-tiered garden terrace peppered with tables and chairs - great at breakfast time or for a quiet drink in the early evening. Absolutely charming, the garden is like a secret oasis, a hidden piece of tranquility even if the hotel is actually in the centre of town.
All rooms at the Antiq Hotel are double rooms although there is the possibility of making up an extra bed in most rooms. While some rooms look a little tired, the dated furnishings carry a sort of charm about them so that the look is cosy and lived in. All accommodation is clean and quite spacious (for such an old, historical building) with lovely parquet floors.
There is no restaurant at the Antiq Hotel however a continental breakfast is served between 7:00am and 10:00am on the ground floor in a spacious breakfast room with a jade/lime green damask feature wall and chairs upholstered in a brash leopard print. While it is a tad loud, thankfully, the outdoor terrace is a much more peaceful place to start the day.
