Hotel Austria Trend Ljubljana

The hotel is located on a busy main road leading directly to the centre of Ljubljana (1.25 miles away). Ljubljana Airport is 20 minutes away, and there is also easy access to major highways.

As expected from a hotel with a large business clientele, WIFI connection is free everywhere.
The hotel offers a free shuttle several times a day to the centre of Ljubljana; however there is also a bus stop right outside the hotel - in five minutes you're in town.

The 10-storey Austria Trend features modern architecture and design, from the common areas to its 214 rooms. Built in 2003 and last renovated in 2010, the hotel looks brand new. It is a quiet hotel; although it is situated overlooking a busy city thoroughfare, its location is a relatively quiet one as it is just outside of the city. Besides a bar and a restaurant, there is also a casino and spa, Sense Wellness. Guests can choose from a range of massages and treatments in the beautifully decorated spa facility. Even the sauna and Jacuzzi incur a charge (unless you're staying in one of the suites).

The rooms at Austria Trend are immaculate; with modern furnishings, classy dark wood finishes and warm colour schemes such as mustard and ochre. Rooms overlook either the city or a nearby stadium. The standard or 'comfort' rooms are found on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th floors and already measure a spacious 33m². On the next few floors there are the executive suites measuring a slightly larger 45m². The top floor contains 10 prestige suites (65m²) and the presidential suites measuring a whopping 158m² and 163m². A bit of hotel trivia: Susan Sarandon, Kevin Costner and Naomi Campbell have all stayed in one of Austria Trend's presidential suites. Room service is available until midnight only.

The bar and restaurant are found on the first floor. The restaurant has something for everyone, and offers both buffet and à la carte dining from its menu of international cuisine. We liked the cosy private dining room in the wine cellar with its curved brick ceiling and wall to wall bottles of wine. The plain, classic decor of the main restaurant renders it slightly cold. However, with high ceilings, lots of natural light and sections that can be separated by curtains to create intimacy, it isn't unpleasant. But it's certainly a place to have a business lunch rather than enjoy a romantic tête-à-tête...
