Our pickThe site ( opposite the natural reserve on Aigrette island ) is gorgeous ; the rooms on the seafront are ideal for couples and the location, not far from the airport, gives an additional asset to this hotel. A must to choose if you want to practice water sports and relax on the beach.

The hotel is located on the seafront, on the site of Pointe Jerome and facing the Aigrette island. Mahébourg is 1.2 mile away and the airport 6 miles away. It takes about 10 to 15 minutes for the transfer.
Do not hesitate to book well in advance because the Preskil, due to its proximity to the airport and its many activities, is quickly full.
Provide a small budget on the spot to try the spa centre. With its 5 simple rooms and a double room with a pool for flower bath, it offers a haven of peace away from the lively areas of the hotel. It costs 1500 Rs (? 41) for a one hour massage and 1300 Rs (? 36) for a marine mud wrap.
It is needless to rent a car during your stay. A bus stops in front of the hotel : it takes 10 minutes and as many Rs ( ? 0.30) to reach Mahébourg. From there, the buses go to the rest of the island.
The Preskil is on the site of the old hotel, La Croix du Sud. It opened doors in 2005. Its common areas ( reception, adjoining halls, bar and restaurant ) offer a refreshing Creole style architecture dominated by painted wood and openwork, madras fabrics and veranda baywindows. On the outside, two swimming pools with an independent sun lounge are offered. One of them, with a length of 20 m and equipped with a small decorative deck, overlooks the beach. This is the "peaceful" swimming pool. The other swimming pool is animated by music and activities during the day. A little larger ( 25 m in length ), it has a Jacuzzi area and is bordered on one side by a wooden terrace shaded by a pergola. It is a pity that the greenery is not present in the immediate vicinity of the swimming pools. It is better to go along the beach to have a break on deckchairs : the setting is more pleasant. Deckchairs, mattresses, towels and sunshades are provided.
Out of the hotel's 200 rooms, the majority are directed towards the lagoon. Make sure you have a house overlooking the sea, so ask for a superior room. It is a must to book the rooms ( on the ground floor or the first floor ) of the 14 cottages on the seafront. A breathtaking view onto the lagoon and the Aigrette island just opposite. Moreover, these rooms on the first floor have an original lay out and are well suited to couples : the bathroom ( except the toilet ) is not separated from the bed and lounge area. Decoration of colonial style with white muslin and furniture reminding of the India Company. Depending on the accommodation, the area varies between 32 m² and 42 m² ; the decoration also changes, from ceruse furniture to tropical style fabrics. The facilities include a terrace or a balcony with rattan table and chairs, air conditioning, a mini-bar, a kit for tea / coffee, telephone and satellite television. The bathroom is equipped with a bathtub, a hair dryer and a small basket of personal skin care products.
The main restaurant is divided into three sections which differ in their decoration. You can have you meals near the swimming pools and in a more or less colourful atmosphere. However, due to the capacity of the hotel, the tables are pretty tightly arranged between them. Come in the beginning or the end of service and sit on the terrace, as it is the most enjoyable. Breakfast and dinner are served in buffet style. At noon, the beach restaurant is open for grillings, a dish of the day, a sandwich or a salad. In the evening, the restaurant serving a la carte, Mamzelle Langouste offers fish and seafood cooked the Creole or the Mediterranean way.
The beach is divided into several creeks that form a set built on 300 m in length and 50 m in width. To get some privacy, you would rather go to one end, as the straw sunshades are not very well spaced out along the central beach. However, the panorama is great : the lagoon overlooks the marine reserve of Mahébourg ( which includes the Aigrette island ). The water is translucent and corals at palms' reach ( snorkeling equipment rental at the water sports base ). The free sports include water skiing, windsurfing, kayaking and pedal boat. Diving, fishing and boat trips are an extra.
