NatureThe Banyan Tree will seduce you with its beach and lagoon, the sophistication of its decoration and the comfort of its rooms. The hotel is dedicated to adults and children over 12.
This hotel review is a translation from the French published on our French site, Easyvoyage.com.
The island is located on the Male Nord atoll, facing Baros and Angsana, 25 minutes away by speed boat from the Male airport.
Here, it is one hour more than in Male. The water is desalinated. The hotel is approved for 12 years old children and more. Underwater diving is practiced with the PADI method. The Banyan Tree group was elected the best spa for 2006. Angsana belongs to the Banyan Tree chain, elected the best spa of the year. There is no charge for water sports for advanced level enthusiasts, except for underwater diving, jet skiing and water skiing.
Besides it very beautiful beach and its 48 lovely villas, the Banyan Tree also has other assets ! In particular its scientific research centre for the corals and the fishes in an attempt to protect the environment and raise environmental awareness. The corals are very beautiful here. The hotel has a bar and a restaurant, a spa with hammam, fitness room, football and volleyball fields on the beach, as well as a complete array of water sports (see beach insert). In fact there are not a lot of amenities but this allows you to have a pleasant stay while offering the basics.
The Banyan Tree has 48 villas divided in 5 categories : 2 Vabbinfaru villas, 15 Relax Beach front, 2 Deluxe Ocean view, 11 Ocean view villas, 12 beach front. The rooms are fully equipped : direct telephone with international calling, mini-bar, safe, individual air conditioning. The hotel has indeed chosen not to equip the rooms with a television, to guarantee its clients quietness far from the news and the activities of Western civilisation. The rooms are very carefully decorated from the bed to the walls, refined and elegant, using natural products, like wood or palm leaf. However, we noticed that the rooms are not very spacious.
The Banyan Tree has a restaurant and a bar. Its restaurant opens onto an outdoor terrace, under the palm trees, a few metres away from the water. The cuisine is local and international, presented in buffet format or à la carte. The dishes are really delicious, from fried vegetables to sushi, as well as meat, imported from Australia, fish, fruits and pastries...
The beach is very pretty; it is the most beautiful one that we saw in Maldives. The sand is nice and thick. The sand is divinely white. The beach has deckchairs and sunshades. The water is clear.
