The Golfe Hotel is located at the entrance of Marigot, 400 m away from the city centre, in the small business area of Bellevue. Juliana airport is 5 miles away (15 minutes by car) and Philipsburg, ?capital?of the Dutch area, about 6 miles away (20 minutes).
The Golfe hotel has no beach. It opens on to what Saint-Martinese call the Simpson Bay lagoon, with rather dirty water. Anyway, you will not bathe here.
Hire a car. The nearest beach is 2 minutes away.
The Golfe looks like a small blue and white three-storey Creole building. No lift to get to the 24 rooms that open on to the lagoon and a land abandoned to wild grass (except for 6 of them with a view of the car park and two times cheaper than the other units during the peak season). The warm colours in the lobby, with a decoration that is both African and Creole, make it welcoming. A small terrace area surrounded by green plants, serves as a breakfast room, a few steps away from a very small swimming pool whose only aim is to refresh you.
The 24 small rooms (14 m²) have adjustable air-conditioning, a television (7 channels) and a bathroom with bathtub (6 rooms have a shower). Hairdryers are available at the reception desk which also keeps your valuable objects in its safe. The decoration is simple : a blend of white curtains and pastel bedspreads. Some rooms have a small balcony, others a fridge. Although the entire structure is not sophisticated, it is comfortable all the same.
The Golfe offers no catering services. It serves only breakfast and drinks at the bar from 7:30 am to 10 pm.
The hotel has no beach. The nearest, Nettle Bay, is 2 minutes away by car. Long and wide, it is a beautiful strip of (lumpy) white sand that sinks quite rapidly into an often agitated Atlantic where cays (coral beds) and metal pipes are at times visible above the water.
