Hotel Corinthia Jerma Palace

The hotel is located on a promontory right by the sea, at the tip of the Marsascala peninsula, just across from the Saint Thomas Tower. Once a day, a shuttle can take you to different points in the island. You can get to Valetta in 30 min ( 7.5 miles ). It takes 20 minutes to get to the airport ( 5 miles ).

A small team offers day and evening entertainment. On the agenda : sports activities, walks in Marsascala, tournaments, activities for children.. Twice a week, the activity team hosts a Quiz Show at the main bar, followed by a disco night.

The Jerma Palace was built in 1981 by Maltese and Libyan developers. So it became a favourite meeting point for Arab businessmen. The entire atmosphere is affected by it since the common areas evoke the hotels of the United Arab Emirates. The big lobby is adorned with wooden grills on the first floor, Arabic mosaics and calligraphy characters. Through stairs adorned with ficus and palm trees, you can get to the two swimming pools ( one indoor and one outdoor ), the main restaurant and the Oasis Bar. Besides the cigarette machines, there are also drinks vending machines.

Unlike the rest of the hotel, the decoration in the 190 standard rooms is quite simple. The ground is tiled on one part and carpeted on the other. On a long desk, a mini television is set up ( satellite reception ). For your comfort, you only have air conditioning and a direct telephone line for international calling. The bathrooms have a bathtub and a hair dryer. You will enjoy a large ( 5 m² ) balcony facing the Marsascala bay or the Mediterranean. It is furnished with a table and two garden chairs.

Breakfast is served buffet-style in the Panoramic Restaurant that gets its name from the terrace overhanging the sea. You will find everything you need for an English breakfast : sausage, bacon, processed fruit juices, scrambled eggs, cheese in pastry, yoghurt, fruit salads, cereals... Lunch ( menu ) and dinner ( buffet and menu ) are also served in this restaurant. If you choose a half-board package, be aware that you can choose which of these two meals you will eat at the hotel. During the day, several types of sandwiches can be ordered at the Coffee Shop. If you miss dinner time, you can take advantage of the room service (snack) or nibble a club sandwich or a pastry at the Seawaves Bar, located in the lobby. In summer, it is possible to be served on the adjacent terrace.

Don't expect to find a sandy beach. This part of the Maltese coast is lined with rocks. However, an artificial beach, all in concrete and covering the rocks, has been built. The place is not very welcoming ( since it's covered with micro-algae ), but you can dive into the clear Mediterranean water. The "beach" also serves as the departure point for all the water activities ( which are extra ). To suntan and swim in a prettier setting, choose the beautiful circular swimming pool.
