Hotel Astarea

The Astarea hotel is located outside of the tiny village of Mlini (0.5 miles away), between Cavtat (6 miles) and Dubrovnik (9 miles). For transfers to Dubrovnik airport, 6 miles away, allow about a 15 minutes drive. Even though Mlini is not particularly interesting, nearby Cavtat is a charming, small port with a rich history.

This hotel is primarily used by German, British, and Italian guests.

The Astarea is a single, large 5-storey building with elevator, with a 1970's concrete and steel façade. Renovated in 1998, it includes a well-equipped fitness room and an indoor swimming pool with large bay windows overlooking the beautiful park with numerous trees.

The 307 small rooms (160 square feet), without air conditioning, are nevertheless pleasant. Indeed, they are all oriented towards the sea and have a balcony with a table and chairs overlooking, in the foreground, the lush garden. They feature satellite television, a mini bar, a safe, and a telephone with direct international access. Bathrooms have a shower and a hair dryer.

The restaurant dining room is spacious, well designed and organised to preserve guest privacy. Flower boxes act as separators between tables. The dining room is bright and opens onto the garden. The table service is decent, and the varied menu offers Mediterranean and international cuisine. The hotel also has a bar on the ground floor, and a tavern.

The public beach is covered with coarse sand, which is rare in Croatia where beaches are generally pebbled. It is located across from the hotel. It is large, and the water is crystal clear. This is, after all, a pleasant place. Deckchairs for rent, and well-fitted nautical base. The beach is guarded.
