Well locatedIt's hard for this local hotel to really stand out for the quality of the accommodation it offers, particularly as it can prove pretty expensive. The hotel is very well-located, close to the Prince's Palace at the foot of the Rock, and its Italian restaurant is excellent.
Le Versailles hotel is situated in the popular Condamine neighbourhood, with the numerous shops in the vicinity making for lively surroundings. Away from the hustle and bustle of the city centre, this is where you'll find the authentic Monaco, just a few minutes' walk from the Prince's Palace, at the summit of the Rock. The harbour is only a 5-minute downhill stroll away and the hotel is also located just 5 minutes from the station.
There is a small motorcycle parking area in front of the hotel which can prove something of a nuisance to those staying on the road-side of the building.
The latest known photos show the hotel in 1895, though the latest renovation work was only completed in 2009. The entrance to the hotel is pleasant, comfortable and intimate with carpeted floors and warm decor surrounding a small reception desk and a lift leading up to the rooms. The communal areas are worn and there are marks on the walls, whilst the corridor leading off to the guest rooms is undeniably gloomy. Additionally, the hotel offers no sports facilities.
The hotel's 15 guest rooms are all in the Standard category and feature outdated and uninteresting decor. Having said that, you will find some basic amenities here, including a large flat-screen television, a refrigerator and free Wi-Fi, and 10 of the rooms also have individual air-conditioning. Their furniture includes a small table and a chair, tucked away in a corner, whilst the small bathrooms, for their part, come with either a shower or a bathtub. A word of advice: if you want a room with a view of the Rock of Monaco from the balcony, it's a good idea to request one when you book.
The hotel's Italian restaurant is located on the ground floor and also has a terrace. The menu here consists of a selection of Tuscan specialities, the picturesque setting complemented by a large fresco depicting the city of Florence, making for truly stylish surroundings. Able to cater for up to 80 guests at a time, the restaurant is open from 7:00am to 10:00am, 12:00pm to 2:15pm and 7:00pm to 11:00pm. The hotel offers Bed & Breakfast, half-board or full-board options.
