Hotel Petasos Beach

Located at the west end of the Platys Gialos beach, just behind the Petinos Beach, the hotel enjoys a location a bit in retreat from the summer bustle of the seaside resort. The hotel is 2.5 miles away from the town of Mykonos and the airport.

Completed in 1990, the Petasos Beach belongs to a local group that notably runs the Petasos Bay and Petasos Town. This very comfortable hotel was renovated in 2006. It is mainly patronized by American, Australian and German couples. It also makes its quite comprehensive facilities available (a swimming pool, a gym, a spa centre, etc.) to the other hotels of the group.

The vast designer and elegantly decorated lobby in marble of the Petasos Beach sets the tone of this luxury hotel. The impressive circular chandelier in the centre of the large room diffuses a softened light. Several small lounge areas are installed around the reception area. This modern decoration is clear of any artifices. The light-coloured wooden furniture is composed of comfortable couches and tables made of glass and wicker. Besides the reception area, an indoor bar is installed in the TV lounge, with blue and white colours, typical of the Cyclades. Outdoors you will discover a vast seawater pool on two levels, accompanied by a jacuzzi. It is surrounded by deckchairs and sunshades that are made available to customers. Not far away, the hotel's outside bar also offers a modern setting with bright furniture and pink seats. Each table is decorated with bamboo. The Petasos Beach has a spa centre, which is very well equipped. Several massage rooms allow customers to enjoy different treatments: sophisticated massages and hydrotherapy on the programme! The indoor pool serves as a huge whirlpool, with a large jet shower.

All 129 rooms of the hotel are dispersed within several buildings of one floor, facing the sea. It is accessed through small paths looking like the pedestrian streets of the town of Mykonos. The rooms are spacious (nearly 269 square feet) and beautifully decorated in tones of blue and cream colour (modern tapestried chairs, tables made of wood and marble, etc.). They all overlook the sea, but it is a pity that the balcony of the bedrooms upstairs is not bigger. The rooms offer TV (international channels), air conditioning, ? mini-bar, ? hairdryer, radio (2 channels) and direct telephone line for international calls. The vast marble bathroom has a large bay window overlooking the sea. It is hard to resist a bubble bath with sea view... A transparent basin is gently placed on a light-coloured wooden furniture. Finally, a good point for the room service available 24/7.

The main restaurant of the hotel, the Odyssey, works buffet-style. The setting is very pleasant. The tables occupy the whole space of the room, the chairs are decorated with white tablecloths. Here, the ambience is elegant but relaxed. The entire restaurant is decorated in shades of beige and is lit by many chandeliers hung on the ceiling. The hall extends to the outside on a pleasant terrace protected by a pergola. It has a marvellous view of the bay. You can sample here Greek and European cuisine, rather varied (8 sorts of meat, 6 sorts of fish and a vegetarian course). Approximately 150 seats for a non-stop service from noon to midnight, and Greek nights on Friday evening.

Platys Gialos, this beach that is in the south of the island, is one of the most crowded spots during peak season. The place is known for its peaceful atmosphere, protected from the bustle of Mykonos downtown. As for comfort: deckchairs and sunshades.
