RestA Member of the hotel chain Starwood, the Santa Marina Resort and Villas has existed since 1986. Since its renovation in 2005, the hotel has enjoyed a facelift. The modern decoration in the common areas is evidence of this. In addition, there are few hotels in Mykonos with a space devoted to children, and the Santa Marina is one of them. Families are welcome! It is open during the summer season, namely from April to October.
Downtown Mykonos is almost 4 miles from the hotel. It takes about a quarter of an hour to get there. As for the airport, it is 3 miles away, approximately the same travel time.
The Santa Marina has facilities for children. A swimming pool is alloted to them, as well as a playground above the beach. As sports are concerned they will delight parents. The hotel is one of the few hotels in Mykonos offering water sports, but they are few: diving, banana and pedalo.
Finally, for the privileged customers, remember that the hotel has a private service for your travels: helicopter (the airstrip is right in front of the hotel!), speed boat, yacht...
This facility is built in the shape of an amphitheatre. Thanks to the fact that it is orientated towards the sea, its size is little discernible from the outside. This location also offers a beautiful panoramic view of the sea from the reception area and of many other places. Its lobby is quite cold but you can distinguish immediately the atmosphere tinted by the modern decoration: the furniture of dark wood contrasts with the sofas and armchairs of pastel colours. The panoramic view of the sea can be contemplated from here or from outside, on the terrace with big wicker sofas and bright white cushions.
Several stairs separate this place from the hotel's meeting place: the swimming pools! The first one is surrounded by the restaurant where breakfast is served. It is big enough but its rectangular shape strips it of all its charm. The second swimming pool is arranged just in front of the second restaurant where customers can have lunch and dinner. Needless to say the deckchairs, sunshades and beach towels are provided free of charge. The Santa Marina also has a spa centre, the Lotus Spa, where different types of treatments are available: honey care, oriental mud care, carrot care...
The Santa Marina has 96 rooms, including 62 standard rooms and 34 suites and villas. Its size is quite correct, the standard room is all pink and looks like a big doll house. No decoration is added on the walls but the pastel colors provide a pleasant atmosphere to the place. The ceiling with exposed beams is reflected in the beige tiles and illuminate the room, thanks, particularly, to the external light. The latter comes from the small balcony where two chairs and a table are installed. The bed is installed in a small alcove embedded into the wall. Moreover, each room has all the necessary amenities: television, a safe, air conditioning, a filled mini-bar and direct dial telephone for international calls. The bathroom is also comfortable. The latter is made of marble with a double basin so that everyone has its own space. Welcome products are also available, as well as a make-up mirror and a hair dryer.
Three restaurants serve daily meals and offer both local and international food. The two restaurants are located in close proximity to the two swimming pools, the third one is the Beach Bar where you can have a light lunch only during the summer. The first one serves breakfast. Its decoration recreates the atmosphere of a winter garden surrounded by green plants: blue and white tablecloths, cut stone's walls and shutters painted white. Here, the restaurant operates buffet-style. The second restaurant is much modern, but less warm. The tables are closer to one another. A small lounge serves as an antechamber to this space with more flashy colours. Whether for lunch or dinner, the restaurant operates à la carte.
The Santa Marina has its own private beach, which is not widespread in Mykonos. However, do not look for sandy spaces, the entire shore is covered only with stones. There are a few rocks protruding from the water. However, there are deckchairs and sunshades made of wood available to the hotel's guests. The place is very calm and more or less sheltered from the wind. A pontoon allows direct access to a deeper space in order not to harm your feet in the water.
