Hotel Marley Resort and Spa

The Marley Resort and Spa is a little out of the way of Nassau city centre. It takes about 15 minutes to get there and it is at the same distance away as the airport.

You will find a few shops near the hotel as well as three different types of restaurants.
A reggae festival is organised by the hotel every year; it takes place in the city during the last week of March.

On arrival at the Marley Resort, you will first see a beautiful and neatly-kept garden, before you hear Bob Marley's songs in the background. His music will continue to play in your head from the beginning to the end of your holiday... Indeed, the atmosphere is very 'Zen' here, so make the most of it and relax! In the main building, the reception hall, which consists of two wooden desks, is a little dingy and numerous portraits of Bob Marley hang on the walls. Just next to the reception hall is a room dedicated to the star. Outside, you will find a pool which is divided into two parts, one of which is adorned with a waterfall. It is a very pleasant place and the view of the sea is beautiful, but too few deckchairs are at the guests' disposal.
The Marley has a pretty little spa called Natural Mystic Spa, a name which sets the mood right away: its zen atmosphere is ideal for relaxation. Three treatment rooms are available, including one dedicated to couples. Be careful when you walk into the beauty salon though, the stairs are really steep! The treatment rooms all join up from the outside. It is a shame though that the air-conditioning in the spa is constantly audible...

The hotel holds a total of 16 rooms, all different in their layout and decoration, with one of their similarities being that they each bear the name of a song by Bob Marley. All are generally furnished with rather impressive wooden furniture, including a huge bed in the centre of the room. The decoration is of African inspiration and if you like, you can listen to more Bob Marley music thanks to the hi-fi system. Unfortunately, none of the rooms have a balcony, making it impossible to get any privacy outdoors. As for the bathrooms, they are spacious enough and designed in quite an original way. Facilities include: a television, air-conditioning, a safe, a minibar, a direct telephone line for international calls, room-service until midnight, a hair-dryer, hospitality products, an iron and an ironing board.

The hotel restaurant, the Simmer Down, is open all day long and all meals are served a la carte. As it is quite a small place though, the tables are set too close to one another. We advise you to sit out on the terrace, if possible, so that you can enjoy the sea view. The international cuisine is of Mediterranean influence. Prices are quite affordable: from ?12 for a caesar salad to ?26 for a fish dish. Go to the Stir It Up bar for refreshments - it is decorated with local objects and painted in the same shades as the rest of the hotel

The Marley has the advantage of being right on the beach. The landscape is superb: fine sand, crystal-clear water and a peaceful environment. You will have to avoid a few stones however, when you bathe in the water, otherwise, there are a few wooden deckchairs fitted with mats and parasols at your disposal, for sunbathing. The beach is not very large though which makes it difficult to find an isolated spot.
