Hotel Métro

At 45 East 35th Street, between 5th Avenue and 6th Avenue (Avenue of the Americas.) In the Garment District, only a few blocks form the Empire State Building and close to Macy's. The hotel is 18 miles away from La Guardia airport, 16 miles from JFK, and 18 miles from Newark. It is near metros 1, 2, 3, 9, B, D, F, N, Q & R.

You can bring your own food to enjoy on the roof terrace. For more quiet, we recommend a room not overlooking the street. There is a room for handicapped on each floor (well equipped). The Metro is one of the few hotels in New York to include breakfast in its price.

The Métro has 179 rooms, in an elegant 13-storey building dating from 1901, standing only one block from the Empire State Building. This hundred-year-old hotel offers its guests an environment in the purest art deco style. Entirely renovated during 2000, it will delight people who love the atmosphere of the 20's, with its grey, black, and cream tones, beautiful era furniture, and numerous black and white photos/portraits of Hollywood stars of the Man Ray period. The infrastructures are clean and well kept. They include a fitness room, and a big terrace (on the roof) offering a beautiful panorama of the town. In brief, it is an excellent address from which to discover New York.

The rooms are also decorated in 20's fashion. They are about 270 ft² and offer a nice, clean and bright environment. The range of features, and the amenities are standard: cable television (20 channels), individual air conditioning, refrigerator, telephone, and room-service during the day. Safes are available at the front desk. The bathrooms are not very big, but functional, with a hair-dryer, and many welcoming products. Notice that only 50% of them have bathtubs.

Located just next to the lobby, and directly accessible from 35th Street, the Metro-Grill welcomes its customers in 100% American setting. In the beautiful long room you may sit at its huge light wood counter, in the backroom with a rather cosy environment, or in one of the small alcoves ideal for one-to-one dinners, and enjoy good contemporary, Asian and Italian cuisine.
