Well located
RestVery close to the sea, the Sol Cala Blanca is a haven of peace for the holiday-makers seeking tranquility and rest.
The Sol Cala Blanca is very close to the sea, on the beach of Palma Nova, on the south-west coast of Mallorca, next to the commercial district. It is situated only 8 miles away from Palma and 15 miles from the international airport of Palma de Mallorca.
The Sol Cala Blanca is open all year round and is well fitted out for couples and for old people. Most of the activities offered are fitted to them: card games, dancing classes, such as tango and profesional shows three times a week.
Lodging advice:
If you want to take advantage of a better view on the Palma Nova bay, you should ask for a sea view room on the upper levels of the hotel.
The Sol Cala Blanca was launched in 1965, the last renovation was made during winter 2006. All the parts of the hotel are easily accessible, it is not very busy. Shaped like a wave and built on 4 levels, the Sol Cala Blanca has an elevator to reach the upper levels dominating the Palma Nova bay. There is marble everywhere, the reception is hospitable, thanks to the large, comfortable sofas and armchairs. The atmosphere is very restful due to the lofty central fireplace of varnished wood with a copper pot that reigns in the middle of the hearth. The main pool is located close to the beach and doesn't offer beach chairs, but there is a bar with chairs and tables. A second pool is covered with a large sun lounge and allows you to bath even in winter. A small gate allows easy access to the beach.
The 10 rooms of about 215 feet² each, are gorgeous and the decor is very sophisticated. The furniture is made of wood and the bedding is cream and red. Everything is fancy, harmonious and comfortable: individual air-conditioning, TV, direct telephone line, filled out mini-bar and a safe that is rented by the week. The bathroom is a little sober, but it has a bathtub, a hair-dryer and welcome products from the Sol Melia hotel chain, as well as sunscreen cream. Not all the rooms offer a view of the sea (you should pay an additional fee for a room with view of the bay) but they all have a balcony with plastic chairs.
The restaurant, open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, serves international cuisine and a few Mallorcan dishes buffet-style, in a remarkable atmosphere overlooking the sea, thanks to the large bay-windows. The dining-room is very spacious and well decorated in patterns of green and blue, with tables nicely set up. During the week, there are lots of thematic evening, like the Tex-mex evening, Indian or even Chinese evening.
Thanks to a small gate, you have direct access to the large beach of Palma Nova. The sand is white, the water is clear and the beach is bordered by a paved seashore - pretty nice. ?t is quite noisy and crowded because of the numerous hotels, restaurants and bars. If you want a little bit of shade, you should rent a beach chair from the numerous beach attendants. It will cost you an average of 5 to 10 euros a day (£4 to £8).
