Hotel Akteon Holiday Village

On the edge of the sea, along a rocky coast, 4 miles away from Paphos. The Paphos airport is 9 miles away. Allow 20 minutes for transfers.

The advantage of the Akteon is the type of acommodaton - with a kitchenette (there is a mini-market in the hotel). The inconvenience: even if the sea is located only a few steps away from the pool, you cannot get there directly (rocky coast). For families with small children, the seaside activities are limited to the pool, though. Others can swim at a beach about 1,312 feet away from the hotel, where you can find a sandy cove.

Built in 2003, the Akteon is a first class vacation village, according to the local norms. It may be used as a place where you can find activities (softer than a club) or leisure facilities. The comfort and the services look more like those of a hotel residence than a simple hotel. Positive points: The rooms are larger and the pool is more spacious. One pool (165 feet long) is equipped at the Akteon for swimming, and another one is used for aquagym or water-polo. There is also a kids pool. A sundeck wraps all the way around, leading onto lawn areas. Beachchairs, sunshades and towels are also supplied.

There are 232 roomns, all equipped with a kitchenette with a refrigerator, an oven, a kettle, hotplates, a toaster and tableware. As for the capacity of the rooms, the units are big enough for 3 persons (322 feet²), 4 or 5. The furniture and the decor are very simple. White walls, tiled floors, oak-wood furniture. If you want a sea view, ask for a room of a superior class. The other units overlook the gardens. Air-conditioning everywhere, same for the telephone and the TV. The bathrooms have bathtubs. You can also request a hair-dryer. The use of the safe-box in the bedroom can be arranged for an extra fee.

The main restaurant, whose wooden tables and the decoration evoke the traditional Cypriot taverns, offers a large panoramic sundeck overlooking the sea. A nice setting to enjoy the buffets served at all three meals. Breakfast with hot and cold dishes - continental or Anglo-Saxon cuisine. For lunch there are mixed salads, grills, pastas and Mediterranean specialities. The thematic dinners are great if you want to try a different cuisine every evening. There are also two other options: the pool snack-bar has a wood oven for pizzas. The a la carte restaurant (open only in the evening) is a good venue for fish or international dishes. Too bad that the room does not offer a sundeck, or a sea view.

Since the coast is rocky, you cannot bath right in the front of the hotel. You have to walk about 1,312 feet on the beach to get to the sandy cove equipped for swimmers. It is not very large (165 x 65 feet), but it allows you to get into the sea and swim. The turquoise water has a few flat rocks that are visible. Since water sports are offered by a nautical base separate from the hotel, you have to pay an additional fee if you want to take advantage of them.
