Hotel Atlantis - Bahamas

You would certainly not miss to see this complex, because it is the highest building on the island. It is located on the western side of Paradise Island, not far if leaving by the toll bridge, which connects the island to Nassau. The Atlantis is located at about half an hour's drive from the airport, but the duration of the trip depends largely on the traffic intensity around Nassau.

Atlantis has one of the highest occupancy rates in the Bahamas. It is advisable to book accommodation well in advance. The clientele is mostly American, so do not be surprised to find common noisy parties that you may think to be like a real anthill.
There are four hotels in the complex. According to the building, each is listed in different categories: The Beach Tower is a 3 * hotel, the Coral Towers is a 3 * Sup hotel, the Royal Towers is a 4 * hotel, and finally the Cove Atlantis is a 5 * hotel.
Customers have access to the infrastructure of all hotels in the complex, except the facilities of the Cove Atlantis. These are hotels of privilege: their customers can move wherever they like but other customers can not enter its premises.
Finally, be aware that the complex faces the Atlantic Ocean. Thus, each external party which is off shelter is exposed to the wind. Strong gusts can be reported across the complex. Feel free to bring a sweater with you... And sometimes you may even need an umbrella...

It is easier to compare the Atlantis with an amusement park than with a real residence hotel. The complex reveals its impressive architecture along the north coast of Paradise Island, across from Nassau. If the hotel is now known throughout the world, it is primarily for its aquarium that houses nearly 50,000 marine species including many sharks, distributed in different basins around the main building. Atlantis has more than 2,000 rooms in 4 different buildings: the Beach Tower, the Coral Towers, the Royal Towers and the Cove Atlantis. And in a summary: the Atlantis does not offer a particularly intimate ambiance, but it will please those who love active entertainment and water activities. The figures speak for themselves: there are nearly a dozen individual basins, a full-size pool, an artificial lagoon beach (offering possibility to snorkeling and pedal-sailing), 35 restaurants and bars, a huge casino, a shopping mall (shops), a SPA, 9 tennis courts and a cinema (about 400 seats), a nightclub and a large marina (room-service offered to boats and access to all facilities of the hotel). As an anecdote, not less than sixty people are employed by the hotel to monitor the aquarium. It is possible to visit the latter alone or with a guide (count $29 per adult, £15, and $21 per child, £11).

Large, comfortable rooms at the Atlantis, all meeting international standards. On the contrary, as for the design and the harmony of colours, they are unmatchable! Quite screaming colours in the lower categories of hotels: the Beach, the Coral and the Royal Towers. Nothing rather original to be expected from these rooms. However, the equipment is sufficient: king-size bed, satellite TV, mini-bar, balcony l(larger or smaller depending on the hotel), a large placard, board and iron, bathroom with a hair dryer.
Also, be aware that the Cove Atlantis does not have a standard room, but only very comfortable suites. The decoration is stylish, with music, state-of-the-art hi-fi equipment (a flat screen in front of the beds, another in the living room) and a bathroom large enough to invite several people! Not to mention the personal care products, bathrobes, the bathroom scales, the magnifying mirror...

17 restaurants are scattered throughout the complex, outside the snack buffet, passing by the gastronomic restaurant. The latter offers a particularly out of the ordinary view. Indeed, its windows run along one of the basin with sharks. The variety of food offered is excessive: local, international, Italian and North American cuisine, fast-food, meat, seafood. The dishes are tasty and the service is excellent. Note: the hotel has its own hotel school to train its staff.

Detached from the Royal Tower by an artificial lagoon, the main beach of Atlantis offers beautiful dimensions. On the contrary, the wind blows non-stop from morning to evening. Attention, we are not talking about small but real breezes gusting around. The beach is monitored and offers some equipments. The lagoon, more sheltered from the wind, is bordered with small beaches perfectly suitable for families with children, because they provide a more secure environment.
