Our pickIt is one of the most famous hotels on the archipelago which is restricted to customers who can afford it. The Ocean Club is a hotel pertaining to the "One and Only" chain. It is a place to relax par excellence, with a magnificent spa inspired by the Balinese spa (8 individual spa houses), beautiful rooms, and an impeccable service. Children are cared for and are granted the exceptional services of a kid's club: a rest room, a flat screen, game consoles...
It is located on the northern coast of Paradise Island, around three hundred feet from the Atlantis. It is at about half-hour drive from the airport, but the time for travel depends mainly on the traffic at the entrance and in Nassau.
The Ocean Club is equipped with a large lobby, a beautiful sushi restaurant (decorated after the design of Christian Liègre) overlooking the coastline and especially a splendid spa after Bali tradition. Member of the "One & Only" brand, Ocean Club belongs to the same owner as Atlantis: Sol Kerzner from South Africa. Customers have at their disposal all the infrastructure of the Atlantis.
The Ocean Club is in perfect harmony with its name. This beautiful building, exemplary with its colonial architecture, built in 1960s, is indeed situated on the seafront and is surrounded by a beautiful park planted with trees, but one of its strengths is undoubtedly its amazingly beautiful pool spreading in the middle of a beautiful garden, in French style, on an authentic background of a French monastic cloister dating back to the 12th century. The decoration of the hotel is nice and refined (revealing contrasts of unbleached white and dark wood), and offering zen atmosphere. The hotel is composed of 106 rooms, including 3 luxury villas and 14 suites. It has a beautiful spa inspired by Balinese spa: 8 independently organised and secluded mansions amid a greenery lush garden, each with two single beds (for spa sessions in couple), a Jacuzzi tub, a large sofa outside to rest between each care session, and a large shower. You can easily take half a day or an entire day under the care of spa staff. Rest and relaxation guaranteed! You may also take courses of YOGA (2 sessions per day). The hotel has another pool specially designed for children, which is situated in a detached section to preserve the tranquility of the first.
The hotel is composed of 106 rooms, including 3 luxury villas and 14 suites. All have undergone complete renovation in 2001. The rooms added last in the wing named "Crescent" has an area greater than the rooms in the older wing. Each room has its own private terrace and overlooks either a quiet garden with trees or the ocean. The equipment is worthy of a 5* category: very large and spacious bed, silent air conditioning, large TV screen with DVD player (you can lease a DVD and a CD in the library), 3 phones, hi-fi set, huge bathroom with bidet, bathrobe, personal skin care products. Customers are greeted in their rooms with music (Frank Sinatra, jazz...). The room design is simple and elegant: the colonial style contrasts with dark wood and ecru fabrics.
The hotel offers 2 different restaurants, whereas the patio is used as the third restaurant. The Dune, the hotel latest construction above the beach, ensures all services. Designed by Christian Liaigre, it offers a decoration where wood predominates in a Japanese simple style. In the kitchen, a famous chef rules: Jean-Georges Vongerichten, who owns a restaurant in New York and another in Paris. The cuisine is up to its reputation, offering exquisite delicacy: let yourself be tempted by the Black-Pate, an assortment of fresh fish: an explosion of flavourish tastes! (Starters: between $10 and $20 that is between £5 and £10; dishes: between $30 et $45 that is between £15 and £25). For dinner only, the Courtyard Terrace will offer you "continental classic" cuisine, to enjoy outdoors in the magnificent central patio of the hotel, all accompanied with excellent wine menu. Finally, for a quick lunch, the Pool Terrace café serves light meals and drinks.
The beautiful beach that stretches at the foot of the Ocean Club is an extension of that of the Atlantis, but is reserved only to customers of the Ocean Club. It offers a glamorously pleasant ambiance even if it sometimes happens to be quite windy. The deckchairs are considerably distant from each other and respect the privacy of each customer. The customers of the Ocean Club can enjoy all the water activities proposed by the Atlantis (sailing, diving, parasailing...).
