CultureExtremely well-located, the Panorama hotel generously offers an unrestricted view of the site of Petra. The comfort is simple but satisfactory, making Panorama hotel a perfectly pleasant place to stay for the time it takes to visit Petra.

The Petra Panorama hotel is located in Petra as indicated by its name. It was built on a hillside, opposite the site of Petra; the view is magnificent. The entrance to the site is 3 mi away.
The view is simply breathtaking in the evening, when the sun sets. Indeed, this is the hotel's major asset.
The hotel opened its doors in 1997 and it can certainly boast an ideal location, situated, as it is, opposite the site of Petra. The amenities are simple and modest, but you have to admit that most people normally come to Petra for its Unesco World Heritage Site, therefore, there is not much time spent in hotel rooms. Moreover, at night time, after spending a long day on the site, the only thing you will feel like doing is going to bed. Be aware though, that in the summer, you will be able to take advantage of the swimming pool that overlooks the valley. There is also a bar with a view of Petra, which is quite cosy in the evening and provides a pleasant time to relax at sunset.
The Panorama hotel consists of 130 rooms (including 3 junior suites) spread out over a stone building (with balconies), on the hillside, with a view of the site of Petra. If you are lucky enough, or if you request it, you may get a room with a balcony. As for the decoration, simplicity and sobriety are the key words that come to mind. In the rooms, white walls contrast with pink curtains and bedspreads, and a few pictures adorn the walls. A television, a telephone, air-conditioning and a minibar are available in every room, and you definitely won't be lacking in terms of space and comfort! As for the bathrooms, they are spacious and equipped with a bathtub and a hair-dryer.
When we visited in November 2008, the restaurant was being extended. You won't help but notice the large bay windows, which let lots of light in and enable you to have your meal while enjoying the view. The cuisine here is international, although theme nights are organized - Italian, Mexican, etc. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are all served as buffets. It is a shame, however, that the restaurant lacks character and conviviality. The large restaurant hall can also become noisy, which is not very welcoming. The large rectangular tables offer no more privacy than a school canteen.
