Hotel Hesperia Troya

By the sea, in the zone of hotels south of Costa Adeje, at the boundary of Las Americas, bordering the Barranco del Rey canal, a few miles from several golf courses. Located 10.5 miles away from the Tenerife Sur airport, it takes 20 minutes to drive to the hotel. The hotel is at about 50 miles from Santa Cruz in Tenerife, the island's capital.

International newspapers are available at the reception. Member of the Catalan chain Hesperia, Hesperia Troya offers room service during the day; this is very rare and deserves to be underscored. Athletes will play squash while their children will enjoy mini-golf.

Built in 1973, Hesperia Troya is one of the first hotels in the island; rest assured, its last renovation was in 2001. The hotel is a 7-floor building, not very charming, of 354 rooms including 60 junior suites. Fortunately, its interior is more cozy, with rare decoration, waterfalls and vegetation. Hesperia Troya has only one swimming pool, contrary to most hotels in Tenerife which often have two or three. It has an integrated pool for children separated from the rest of the swimming pool by a wooden deck equipped with ropes like a sailing boat. A solarium with deck chairs, beach umbrellas, toilets and showers skirts the swimming pool. Towels are given at the reception in consideration of a 12 pound caution fee. The swimming pool bar is open from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. There is a stage for evening shows when the weather is good. A few feet away is a grass hut with ping pong, billiard and football tables.

Hesperia Troya rooms are relatively simple and quite spacious (290 feet²), enjoying side views to the sea from their well done balconies. They have telephone sets with direct access to the international, a safe (2 pounds per day), a small television set suspended like those in hospital rooms (cable television offering 30 channels) and a single air conditioner. But there are no fridges. The bathroom is standard with a bathtub equipped with a handle and flexible shower, bidet, integrated toilet, toiletries and hair dryer. For those of you who might need more space, there are 60 junior suites with a living room and a television set in each room.

Customers can have breakfast and diner in the buffet restaurant which can accomodate 450 guests and which offers show cooking and international cuisine with Mexican, Italian or Canarian varieties. Breakfast is served from 7:30 AM to 10:30 AM and diner from 6:30 PM to 9:45 PM. However, the restaurant is closed at midday; you have to go to the swimming pool bar which serves snacks from 12:30 to 3:30 PM. You can quench your thirst at the swimming pool bar during the day and at the lobby bar from 8:30 PM to midnight, with music perfume and several plasma screens.

Hesperia Troya is named after the beach facing it on the other side of the road, Playa Troya, with its dark grey sand, protected by two sea walls. Under surveillance and well laid out, it offers not free equipment including beach umbrellas, deck chairs and showers. Pedal boats are available as well as trampolines for children. Other bigger and more equipped beaches for water sports are accessible by a stroll along the sea, skirted by bars, restaurants and shops.
