Hotel Iberostar Torviscas Playa

By the sea, in the zone of hotels of Costa Adeje, close to the yacht port of Puerto Colon and a few miles from several golf courses. Located 11 miles away from the Tenerife Sur airport, it takes 20 minutes to drive to the hotel. The hotel is at about 50 miles from Santa Cruz in Tenerife, the island's capital.

Iberostar Torviscas Playa is located in the heart of the tourist area of Las Americas, close to several shopping centres, bars and restaurants. It has a therapeutic centre (not-free) offering relaxation massages, spinal manipulative therapy and joint manipulations, treatment of lumbagos, sciaticas and lesions caused by sports, as well as back pains in general. For smokers, know that several terraces reserved for smokers are available almost everywhere, this being very rare in the Canary Islands. Newspaper readers will get their newspapers in the lobby bar where guests drop the magazines they have read, a rather nice gesture for the others!

Built in 1989 and renovated in 2005, Iberostar Torviscas Playa is a 6-storey dark brown having 476 rooms, accessible using 4 elevators. At the foot of the hotel are two big arc of circle pools (open from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, 1.60 feet deep) including one air-conditioned (26°), with a small islet covered with greenery and a pool for children. Both pools are found on a vast well appointed setting equipped with deck chairs, beach umbrellas and a solarium surrounded by tropical gardens. Towels are supplied at the reception against a caution fee of 8 pounds. Facing the hotel is the sea and the Puerto Colon port. The hotel also has various sports infrastructure, including a multiple sports field (football, basketball, volleyball) and has direct access to the beach.

Renovated in 1998 and appointed with classical furniture and a wall-to-wall carpet covering the floor, the rooms are well decorated and appointed with really cozy and colourful corridors. A beautiful painting is hanging above the bed. Most of them open to the sea, pool and the Puerto Colon port from their small equipped balconies (a table, two chairs and one clothes dryer); the others open to the mountain and town. They have a direct-access telephone set, cable television, a safe (electronic code, 9.5 pounds per week), a refrigerator and adjustable air-conditioner. The bathroom has a bathtub equipped with a flexible shower but no handle for disabled persons, as it is the case in Canarian hotels. Hair dryer and toiletries are supplied and you have an integrated toilet and a bidet.

The hotel has a 700-seat buffet restaurant, the America restaurante, offering several show cooking. The cuisine is internationally-inspired, with Canarian, Spanish and Mexican specialties once a week. Refreshing tissues are judiciously supplied: a small more appreciating one. Dinner is served from 18:00 to 9:00 PM. Breakfast, with a diet area, is served from 7:30 to 10:30 AM. At midday, the barbecue grill in the garden offers several dishes. The swimming pool bar is open from noon to 3:00 PM.

To get to the beach of Playa Torviscas with its fine and dark sand, you need to cross the walkway and walk for less than 492 feet. Equipment (not free) include beach umbrellas, deck chairs, toilets and showers. Water sports (notably parakiting, jet skiing and water skiing, pedalo or banana boat) and games for children (bubble pool, trampoline) are available. The beach is guarded, well appointed and protected by a sea wall; a walkway runs alongside leading to other beaches. The beach is skirted by bars, restaurants, shops and games rooms.
