Hotel Jardin Tropical

By the sea, in the zone of hotels of Costa Adeje, between the Puerto Colon port and the Playa del Bobo beach, a few miles from several golf courses. Located 10.5 miles away from the Tenerife Sur airport, it takes 20 minutes to drive to the hotel. The hotel is at about 50 miles from Santa Cruz in Tenerife, the island's capital, and at 56 miles from the Los Rodeos Airport in the north of the island.

Work of the famous architect Villarroel, the hotel was built in 1987 out of natural building materials, mainly Canarian hemlocks, stones and limestones. Its arabic-inspired architecture fits in 129,120 feet² of subtropical gardens made out of 300 species of trees and 16,000 plants of the Tenerife, bougainvillea and cactus families, and several varieties of palm trees. The hotel also has a complete healthcare and beauty centre (5 changehouses, natural therapies, massages, baths, Thalgo cosmetics and barber shop), the Tropical wellness, open from 9:30 AM to 7:30 PM. Jardin Tropical is really not meant for children, elderly and disabled persons.

Jardin Tropical is a 5-storey building of Moorish style having 390 rooms out of which 80 are suites. At the foot of the hotel are vast gardens (129,120 feet²) of several layers that extend right to the sea, enclosing 2 swimming pools one of warm freshwater and another of 6,456 which pumps water directly from the sea and spreads out at length like a river. All around is a vast solarium with showers, changehouses, deck chairs and beach umbrellas, waterfalls, several bars and snack-bars, five restaurants and quiet lounge areas with rattan chairs. All of this fitting in a refined and luxury decoration.

Rooms are comfortable and pleasant with their natural building materials, tiled floors, cozy colours and wooden and rattan furniture. Decorated with paintings of Van Gogh, Monet, Manet or Gauguin, they give onto the sea and the swimming pool for half (with supplement); the others give onto the gardens from their large balconies equipped with a round mosaic table and two chairs. Spacious and lighted, they have a telephone set with direct access, ADSL Internet access, cable television with plasma screen hidden in a cupboard (30 channels), not free safe and mini-bar, and an adjustable air-conditioner. The light in the big cupboard with hangers and blankets comes on automatically when it is opened. A big and complete bathroom having a bathtub equipped with a handle and flexible shower, integrated toilet, bidet, hair dryer, toiletries, a double basin, bathrobes, cleansing tissues and makeup mirror. Junior suites contain a king size bed, separate bathroom, separate toilet, a very big bathtub equipped with a shower, tropical, a scale, slippers and a free safe.

The hotel has 5 restaurants offering a variety of dishes in a flowery and pleasant decor full of lights. Half board clients can choose between the restaurant-buffet Las Mimosas and the internationally-inspired a la carte restaurant Las Cuevas where menus to be tasted are served. Also available during the day at the a la carte snack-restaurant Las Cucuruchos or at the restaurant Las Rocas beach Club fish and seafood specialties and rice-based dishes. Lastly, the gourmet restaurant El Patio serves creative international cuisine; exquisite and renowned, singled out on several occasions as the best in the Canary Islands. Jardin Tropical also offers 6 bars, in the lobby, in the restaurant Los Cucuruchos, in the Las Rocas Beach Club (from 9:30 AM to midnight) and in the Cafe de Paris, with some music perfume. Gourmet days are organised in collaboration with international Grand Chefs.

Accessible by stairs and a pedestrian walkway, the small beach of Playa del Bobo is 820 feet down the hotel. This beach is built in some small guarded and well appointed cove protected by two sea walls, with black fine sand. Equipment include beach umbrellas, deck chairs and showers. Water sports are available, notably pedalo, parakiting and jet skiing. Other bigger beaches more equipped for water sports are found close by and are accessible by strolling along the sea skirted by bars, restaurants and shops.
