Our pickThe Aventura Mexicana is for its sake a delicious small hotel. It seduces travellers in search of peace and intimacy in the huge and trendy seaside village of Playa del Carmen.
This hotel review is a translation from the French version published on our French site Easyvoyage.com.
Located 1 mile from the centre of Playa del Carmen and a 5 minute of walk from the sea. It takes about 45 minutes to get to Cancun airport located 32 miles away.
Built in 1997, the Aventura Mexicana stands out as a small and charming hotel accommodating 26 rooms. This is a facility dedicated to rest with good friends, or pretty good for a single stay close to the eclectic and cosmopolitan Playa del Carmen, a starting point for exploring Mayan sites. A nice and friendly place, the hotel offers all the necessary comfort and a large dose of refinement in a friendly atmosphere.
The hotel consists of a building which forms a narrow U shape as the construction in Merida. At the bottom a small swimming pool stretches out surrounded by lush vegetation. The hotel rises on 2 floors. Access to the rooms is possible via a large wooden staircase, which is polished outside. The ensemble is topped by several sun lounges, including one with a Jacuzzi. Everything is painted white and in the nation's colours - red and green.
The rooms, designed after Mexican style, are stylised and even baroque. The furnishings, the decoration, the bedspread (in various motifs) and the artistic pieces of work are different in each lodging. The rooms open onto outdoor galleries that offer comfortable lounges furnished with tables and chairs made of cement. They are equipped with individually controlled air conditioning and a small bathroom with ? shower. There is no television, nor a mini-bar, or a fridge. The telephone, with access for international dialling and a safe are available at the reception. The room service is available until midnight.
The Jacobi's Restaurant serves on menu in the morning, noon and evening. It is open from 7 a.m. to midnight. It serves regional and international cuisine, both delicious. The dishes are numerous and quite original. A meal costs 100 pesos on average. The dining room, open to the outside and covered with a roof made of palm leaves, borders the swimming pool. The atmosphere is exotic. In the evening, the tables are lit by candles. The hotel also organises a buffet from August to April during high season.
The hotel's location suggests also going to Tucan Beach, one of the splendid public beaches in Playa del Carmen. It is 5 minutes away on foot. The sand is white and fine and the transparency of the waters along the shore turns into a gradient of blue lagoon that stretches beyond the sea horizon. The beach is guarded and cleaned. On the spot, the hotel does not provide equipment.
