Hotel Club Med La Pointe aux Canonniers

On the oceanfront, in La Pointe aux Cannoniers, and 2 miles away from the Grande-Baie. To reach the hotel from the airport ( located 40 miles away), you will need a 1 hour and 15 minutes drive.

La Pointe aux Cannoniers village has been renovated. At the time of the opening ( in Decembre 2007), it was supposed to be structured as a family village.
In summer 2007, there was also scheduled the opening of a second Mauritian Club Med. Located in Albion, on the western coast, this 266 rooms club differs from the first by a high standing position and by a preference for couple clients.

Those seeking sportive vacations will definitely choose the Club Med La Pointe aux Cannoniers. Its biggest asset is that it offers lots of activities included in the season ticket and a friendly atmosphere, ideal for a stay with your family or between friends.

Built in 1973 and renovated in 1998, the Club Med is composed of a series of 1-level villas scattered in a park of 17 hectares. It offers 280 rooms in all. The architecture in the common areas includes a Balinese entrance ( with sculptures and waterfall streams ) and a pretty sober lobby that opens towards a rectangular pool of 900 m². The sports amenities allow you to practice tennis, beach-volleyball, archery or learn how to play golf.

The standard rooms are pretty small ( 16 m² ) and furnished simply ( with local accents like the tapestry on the walls representing a dodo, emblematic bird of the Island ). 60 % of the rooms have a sea view, the others overlook the garden.. They are equipped with air-conditioning and with a fan, a refrigerator, a bathroom with shower and hair-dryer, telephone and TV. If you come here with your family, you should prefer the communicating rooms if you want to have more space. A baby-bed can be added in the standard rooms, but the size of the room barely allows it.

The three meals are served buffet style in a large room with a nice shaded terrace. The choice is rich, with different themes every evening : during one week, you will taste successively Italian, fisherman, Mauritian, French, Oriental and gala buffets . For lunch, you can also stay at the restaurant located at the edge of the beach. If you want, you can choose to make reservations ( for an additional charge) the bar and snack included deal : which includes local drinks and snack meals during the day and in the evening.

The beach, stretching out on 800 m, allows you to choose a more distant location if you want. It is well fitted out with deckchairs and thatched sunshades. The water sports included are nautical ski, sailing, windsurfing, kayaking, pedalo and canoe. For an extra charge, you can practice game fishing and take rides to the sea.
