It is a small village built with small buildings in Meditarranean colours (virtually squeezed together), white and ocre facades and light red roof tiles. In addition to the obvious charm that the structure shows, the PortAventura hotel belongs to the amusement park of the same name, and has the exclusive advantage of having direct access to the famous leisure site.
PortAventura is located on the Costa Daurada close to Salou, the closest town 1,640 feet away, about 15-20 minute walking. Several other towns are located nearby, such as Cambrils (4 miles), Tarragone (6 miles), etc. By road, the Barcelona airport is an hour from the hotel (60 miles). The park has also a train station located right in front of the El Paso hotel at about 1,640 feet from the PortAventura hotel.
Like the amusement park, the hotel also closes from January to March. The hotel bears
the name of the park, as the latter was formerly called Universal. When it came to
rename it, the name Portaventura was retained. On its part, the hotel maintained
its original name. The clientele is mainly made up of families. The
dominant nationalities are Spanish, English and French.
Thanks to the conference centre and its halls of different sizes, companies often organise seminars or incentive travels there. An animation schedule and an evening concert are also available. Do not forget that the hotel also sets up the theme of the moment on its premises. Like this, witches and vampires welcome you upon arrival in Halloween. Don't worry, they know how to smile!!!
The magnetic card of your room can also be used for shopping in the park. You simply need to have it activated at the reception.
Our advice: if possible, request for room not far from the reception desk, this way you will be close enough to the entrance of the park. Meanwhile, if you prefer tranquility after a tough day, a room close to the pool will be better!!!
One immediately feels like being in a park with an architectural design similar to that of a small town with its main square housing a beautiful theatre, its countless cafés and restaurants, its small bridges and fountains. It is a delight to discover the life of this hotel built in 2002 and that exudes such a sunny charm. With its turrets and endless arcades, each building of at most 3 storeys seems to stand out from the others in spite of the homogeneity of the entire setting. Water, the life line of the entire set has a special place in each distinct section. Actually, the hotel has two floors with the hustle and bustle of the city on the upper floor and the lower floor reserved to relaxation and the pleasure of lazing around close to one of the two lagoon-pools. All over, the Mediterranean vegetation is predominant with its flowers on both windows and balconies, plants and palm trees in every space available. Ironworks, street lamps, cobblestones and road signs reinforce the image of a village. At the hotel reception clients with a VIP package report to an office reserved for them. Note: there are fewer deck chairs compared to the maximum capacity of the hotel, although sunbathing is rather a supplement to the time spent in the park. In addition: the Campo Aventure kids' club and the lovely gym are a delight thanks to the open air space and the very bright colours.
The 500 rooms of the hotel are divided into standard rooms, a few designed for the disabled and "Woody and friends" theme-based rooms. For the latter category, there will be an additional fee of 40 pounds added per adult and 20 pounds for children. This will take your kids into the very funny and colourful world of Woody with effigy scenes of the star, wall paper and natural wood... The decoration of the standard rooms, but yet confortable, is much more sobre with pink bed top cover and white walls. Only the flower designs grace up the setting slightly. With surface areas of 320 to 430 feet², the rooms may easily accommodate at most 4 persons, including children. You will have access to a dark wooden office desk, seats and armchairs, a free safe box, telephone, airconditioning (heat/cold) and a TV set with 50 to 60 channels. Three separate components form the bathroom: the fittings of the bathtub and shower, toilets and in the middle, the large mirror mounted above the wash-hand basins. Also, a hair dryer, a well-equipped PortAventura toilet kit for adults and another one specially for kids.
The Buffet del Port offers a variety of dishes with international flavours for dinner 7:00 PM. to 10:30 PM. It is acutally a large buffet-restaurant with an unimaginable number of places (up to 650 persons in summer) since the space is divided into several sections. With a view of the pool and lake, the restaurant veranda is bathed by the sun. Breakfast is ready from 7:00 AM. to 10:30 AM. Don't look for privacy or silence during meals!!! 4 à la carte restaurants complete the offer of the hotel, including the Italian Port Regata (pasta and pizza mainly), the Spanish Pica Pica and the pool-side snack-bar. In addition, there are different bars.
Open in 2006, the Beach Club is the PortAventura arm on the beach (closes by the 20th September). It is free for the clients of PortAventura. From your hotel, you will only need a couple of minutes via transit train. On about 6.40 acres, there are levelled 7 different pools of which several overflowing. A long pool will appeal to sports lovers, two designed for children while the others are perfect for those wishing to laze around, like the one with a sand beach or the other with beds in water. Overall, this covers a a water surface of 24,750 feet². In this splendid club facing the Mediterranean, it is a delight to relax, swim and play with the kids on the numerous playgrounds. Right ahead, the Playa Larga de Salou extends over a few metres after the footwalk lined with pine trees. Note: situated on a great height, the Lumine restaurant of the club offers mainly Mediterranean specialties.
