Hotel Coco de Mer

On the south-west coast of Praslin, along Anse Bois de Rose. To reach the hotel from the airport located 5 miles away, expect 15 minutes.

The hotel and the Black Parrot, located just nearby, belong to the same proprietor, but Le Coco de Mer is more modest and cheaper. Nevertheless, these distinct entities share, sporting activities and excursions. The hotel has notably a water sports club, fitness hall, tennis court, ping pong table, mini-golf court, and giant chess set: both children and adults will be pleased. Worth noting: the hotel provides free transport to Anse Lazio, one of the most gorgeous beaches in the world. If you are seeking a peaceful place to admire sunset, visit "Fishermans wharf", a romantic pavilion on stilts at the end of a pontoon.

Lodging advice

All rooms at the garden level are identical, easily accessible and have the same wonderful ocean view. However, for couples, we recommend one of the 32 rooms with a big king size bed. The other 8 rooms have twin beds.

Built in 1989 and renovated in August 2006, Le Coco de Mer consists of a large central pavilion sheltering the restaurant, reception and parlours, and a beautiful swimming pool shaped like a coco de mer. On each side, within a lush park are located single-storey stone buildings housing the rooms. The hotel had the wise idea of building many hammocks facing the sea, shaded under coconut palms. However, the parking lot is located at the intersection of the rooms, the swimming pool and the restaurant. It is thus an unavoidable passage! A small track crosses the hotel's garden, between the rooms and the beach towards the mini-golf. It is the old road that passed exactly on this spot: the bus stop sign reminds us of a recent past!

All identical, the 40 spacious rooms (540 ft²) of Le Coco de Mer can take 4 persons, which is great for families. They are divided in small chalet like buildings placed side by side. All face the sea and offer a wonderful ocean view from the parlour and terrace, equipped with two wooden deckchairs and a table. Their furniture consists of a king size bed, a small lounge area with settees convertible to children's bed and a low table. They have a good rating: satellite television, individual air-conditioning with ceiling fan, direct telephone, fridge (stocked on request) with tea and coffee kit, and safe. The television remote control hangs from a rope to avoid children misplacing it. The bathrooms are equipped with a shower, a double basin and a bidet. Its designers considered a bathtub to be unnecessary! You will therefore find it next to the bed, in front of a huge mirror, framed with two ladyfinger palms. Guest supplies and hairdryer are provided. Room-service is available from 7:30 am to 9:30 pm.

Le Coco de Mer has two restaurants: the Hibiscus provides a homely and big hall for breakfast and dinner. International à la carte dishes are served 4 times a week. The other days, theme or Creole buffets offer a bit more diversity. "Live" music groups play many times a week. The Mango Terrace serves lunch and dinner à la carte. Two bars, located at the swimming pool and lobby serve many and varied cocktails.

Le Coco de Mer has 3 small beaches spread out one mile: two feral and virgin creeks and a gorgeous beach equipped with a shower, deckchairs and parasols: everybody's need is fulfilled! You could do windsurfing, canoeing, kayaking and snorkelling at the water sports centre. Excursions for big game fishing are also organised. From May to October, North-West trade winds tend to bring algae to the shore.
