AnimationThe Malama is a large animated club built above a wild cove that allows you to fully enjoy the sea. The original layout of the space, with its central square, small alleys between the buildings, makes it look like a village. If you consider the numerous sportive and leisure facilities for adults and kids, the place will mostly suit families.
The hotel overlooks Malama cove, 2 miles away from Paralimi (in the inland) and 5 miles away from the summer resort of Protaras where you can find many bars, restaurants and shops. The nearby surroundings are still quite rural. Nature here is well dispalyed. Ayia Napa, the biggest seaside resort of the south-eastern coast, famous for its nightlife, is 5 miles away from the inland, 9 miles when going along the coast. To reach the hotel from Larnaca airport (36 miles away), allow a 50-minute drive.
The hotel is open from April to the end of October.
Dinners are usually accompanied by live background music.
The animation is very present.
A shuttle leaves every 20 minutes towards Protaras (for a fee).
The beautiful beach of Fig Trees Bay is located at the south edge of Protaras.
Built in 1990, the Malama occupies 37 acres. It includes 166 apartments that can accommodate a maximum of 4 adults each, housed in small Provençal-like 2-level buildings with stairs, surrounded by mimosas' massifs, palm trees and eucalyptus. The spacious pool - offering a sea view - and the large square with a shop and a mini-market - where you can take your meals - are the two lively points of this club that looks like a village. The various sport facilities, the animation that is specially developped for children, and the sea baths on the beach guarantee absolute relaxation.
Three types of apartments, very pleasant, spacious, bright and comfortable are offered. The standard apartment (2 people / 420 square feet) includes a small entrance, a bedroom, a living-room area with a kitchen, a bathroom and a balcony. If you want more space, you should choose a real two-room apartment (2 people / 470 square feet) or a three-room apartment (4 people / 730 square feet) with two double bedrooms and a sundeck, and a second bathroom. The varnished wooden furniture is simple, functional and tasteful. The rooms are fresh, covered with pavings. The kitchen (hotplates, kitchen utensils, large refrigerator, hood) and the bathroom (spacious, bathtub, window) are perfectly equipped. All apartments offer a satellite TV, a direct telephone line, adjustable air-conditioning. Be careful however with the frontal view and the noise if you stay in a room close to the village square, very populated at the time of the meals.
Meals are served buffet-style, inspired from local or international cuisine. Breakfast and dinner are taken outdoors, at the shade of the beautiful sunshades, on the ''village'' square. You can have lunch at the pool on a very nice sundeck with a sea view. The cuisine is of a quite good quality. You can ask for à la carte simple Mediterranean cuisine (salads, grilled meats, sandwiches) at the bar-restaurant of the pool all day long. A cocktail bar (indoors) and a bar reserved for disco evenings (around the indoors pool, decorated like a cave) are added to the services.
A few steps get you to a small wild cove, jammed between a rocky and indented coast. The sandy beach is small but the water is very clear and you can swim out a long way, sheltered by a small cape. The reeds that surround the small downhill towards the beach add more charm to the place. Water sports available at a 10 minute walk away. Paying deckchairs and sunshades.
