Hotel Grand Paradise Playa Dorada

The Paradise Beach hotel is located on the northern coast of the island, in the heart of the Playa Dorada complex, 9 miles east of Puerto Plata. Out of all the hotels in the complex, it is the closest to the beach of the Playa Dorada complex. To reach the hotel from the airport (located 19 miles away), it takes a 20-minute drive.

Located between the casino and the disco bar, it is impossible to get bored in the evening in this grand hotel. A beautiful golf course designed by the famous American architect Robert Trent Jones is si?tuated across the road along the complex. The aqua park Ocean World Adventure Park is only 40 minutes to the west, 6 miles from Puerto Plata. Remember that Catholics can attend Mass on Sundays at 11 a.m. The hotel does not have a theater, but performances take place at the swimming pool or the beach.

A lodging tip

We advise elderly or disabled guests to book the rooms located on ground floor because the buildings with 2 or 3 floors do not have elevators. Only buildings 7, 9, 11, 12, 14 and 16 offer a magnificent view onto the sea from their balcony. However, avoid the rooms close to the swimming pool in buildings 4, 5, 8, 10, 13, 15, 19 and 20 because the animation is sometimes too noisy.

A member of the hotel group Dominican Amhsamarina, the Paradise Beach, built in 1987, has 436 rooms accommodating up to 900 customers. The rooms are housed in 20 buildings of 2 to 3 floors, around a large swimming pool which is equipped with a volleyball net, 3 double showers and deckchairs. Adorned by a small island with a palm tree in the middle, the swimming pool is attached to an a la carte Italian restaurant Michel Angelo, and the casino. Right next to the swimming pool, there is a stage where various events take place during the day and evening. On the side, a large Jacuzzi full of cold water helps you to cool off. Going towards the beach, you will find the second swimming pool, quite large and dedicated to children, located near the Kiko kid's club. By the beach, the a la carte grill restaurant, Edens, and the Sinners bar can be found. In the evening, after the show, night owls come to the disco Crazy Moon.

The hotel has 436 rooms categorised as 130 standard rooms, 233 superior rooms and 73 suites. The standard rooms have a double bed or two twin beds. All rooms have air conditioning, a bathroom with a bathtub and a fixed shower, telephone, a safe with a key for $ 18 a week and satellite TV broadcasting a hundred channels, all overlooking the beach or the swimming pool. The standard rooms do not have a fridge or balcony. Hair dryers and an iron and an ironing board are available upon request at the reception. Several naive paintings hung on the walls add a nice decorative touch.

The Paradise Beach boasts 4 bars (the Extasis bar at the disco Crazy Moon near the swimming pool, the Swim-up bar in the swimming pool, the Beach bar and the Sinners bar at the buffet Hibiscus) and 3 restaurants. Located along the beach, the main buffet, Hibiscus, has a beautiful view of the sea from its gorgeous open-air straw hut and serves different culinary themes every day. You can dine twice a week in either of the a la carte restaurants that offer Italian specialities at the Michelangelo , right next to the swimming pool , and the Eden's grill near the beach. You have to make a reservation in the morning at the reception. To quench hunger and thirst during the day or in the evening, the snack bar of the Eden's Grill offers a wide choice of pizzas, hamburgers and sandwiches from noon to 4 p.m. and from midnight to 1 a.m.

The Paradise Beach has the largest beach area of all the hotels of the Playa Dorada complex. Quickly accessible, it offers many amenities, including two areas for playing beach volleyball, a petanque ground, a basketball court, ping pong table, showers and toilets. The main buffet is located directly on the beach, on a promenade running along the sea water. Right next door is the Eden Grill restaurant and the bar on the beach. The panorama is very pleasant, with on the left side the famous hill, Loma Isabel Torres, overlooking Puerto Plata. One disadvantage: there are not many water activities.
