AnimationWith nearly 900 rooms, the Occidental Grand Flamenco is without doubt one of the biggest hotels in Punta Cana. The comfort and the services are available here. Its size will discourage some visitors.
Located in Punta Cana, the tourist epicentre in the country with its 25 miles of beach, encircled by the Caribbean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean, on the southwest coast of the Dominican Republic, the Flamenco hotel is situated on the Bavaro beach, some 37 miles from the bustling town of Higuey (within 1 hour) and a three hour and a half drive from Santo Domingo, the capital town of the Dominican Republic. Punta Cana airport is 16 miles from the hotel (20 minutes).
The Flamenco is one of the good standard hotels in the Dominican Republic. Popular among middle-income French customers, this hotel offers a wide range of services and activities. On the surface, it looks like many resorts in the area of Punta Cana, but special efforts have been made, to the animation particularly, to attract young customers and families. A map of the hotel, handed over upon arrival; is essential to get orientated.
The Royal Club, a veritable hotel within the hotel, is a private space located in the heart of Flamenco and intended to offer a personalised service to the hotel's guests. Jacuzzi, reception, Club (breakfasts, drinks and snack all day) and private beaches, and so on. Its bar open all day long, however, is accessible to all the hotel's guests.
This hotel opened in 1999, is an establishment of good standing near the beautiful beach, Bavaro. From the lobby to the sea, the facilities and the garden form a long, very long central pathway. In addition to its beautiful swimming pool, the hotel includes 26 buildings without any particular charm but tastefully decorated inside - in all 877 rooms. Note! The corridors of the accommodation buildings may seem endless.
The rooms at the Flamenco are spacious (about 323 ft²), comfortable, very clean and tastefully decorated: exotic wood furniture, large mirrors, ochre walls. Very well equipped and in conformity with international standards, they have air conditioning, satellite television, a safe box, a mini-bar, a bathroom with a bathtub and a hair dryer. Ask for the rooms with a sea view, they are gorgeous!
Nine restaurants, semi-open or air-conditioned, are clustered around the majestic main staircase of the pool, along with many bars... It is impossible to get tired of the cuisine of the Flamenco! But beware, quantity does not necessarily mean quality. Good quality food, nothing more. A word of advice: it is better to avoid the snack, truly passable. The other restaurants serving a la carte, the gourmet restaurant El Cortijo, the Italian restaurant Via Veneto, the Mexican grill restaurant La Hacienda and Las Reses, are better to visit. Beware, the main buffet has really strong air conditioning...
The beach of the Flamenco hotel, namely Playa Bavaro, is the most famous in Punta Cana. With its transparent waters and white sand, it is difficult not to be seduced! The beach extends far beyond the horizon, although it does not belong only to the hotel - all neighbouring resorts share this beach. The only problem: the nagging noise of the boat engines, which fly by on the waves all day. The beach of the Flamenco hotel provides many deckchairs and houses the water sports centre, which offers a wide range of activities.
