Hotel Sirenis Tropical Suites Casino & Aquagames

The Sirenis Tropical is located on the north-east coast of the Dominican Republic, far to the north of the seaside resort of Punta Cana, on the beach of Uvero Alto-Macao (province of the city Higüey). The picturesque village of El Macao, populated by farmers and ranchers, is only a few miles south of the complex. It takes some 20 minutes to get there by car, because of the bad state of the roads (the damage caused by the hurricane Jeanne in 2004 has not been repaired yet).$$ It is better to go along the beach as this route is more direct ! The airport of Punta Cana is an hour's drive (approximately 37 miles), and the airport of La Romana is two hours away. But the airport at Santo Domingo is four hours away by taxi (127 miles).

Opened in 2001, the Sirenis Tropical is part of a huge complex consisting of two hotels, along with the Cocotal Beach, which includes 780 rooms in total. Quiet, well equipped and welcoming, there you would not feel crowded thanks to the many small buildings arranged across a large garden. The disadvantage: the long distances from one facilitiy to another.
The hotel club is located off to the north of Punta Cana and away from the main Dominican lifestyle, except the small village near El Macao. It is better to get up early to go on an excursion! However, the hotel offers an ideal place for holidaymaking with its long beach of virgin coconut trees. Lovers of peace and tranquillity will be satisfied.
The staff is pleasant and the reception is friendly.
Remember that a spa centre is to open doors in December 2004, and will be located near the casino and the disco bar. $$

Clearly separated from Tropical by a long central path going straight up to the swimming pools and strewn with fountains and small populated ponds of fish, Sirenis Tropical stands on the right hand side of the complex. The large reception hall, all tiled in black marble, houses the two main buffets overlooking the gardens and the two bars of the respective hotels. It is a pity that it is a little bit bleak but it does, however, exude a certain freshness. Installed in a coconut grove, the Sirenis Cocotal suffers from a lack of shade due to the insufficient density of the tropical vegetation despite the huge areas of green grass.
At the end of the main pathway, two beautiful swimming pools framed with flowered vegetation are connected via a bridge. The beautiful beach is located nearby.

This is what differentiates the Sirenis Tropical from the Cocotal. A total of 364 spacious and comfortable rooms are spread over 20 buildings rising on two floors. All rooms have a master bedroom with two double beds or one king-size bed, an independent lounge with a sofa bed, individually controlled air-conditioning and a ceiling fan, satellite TV, telephone, a hair dryer, a mini bar, a safe and a furnished balcony. The larger suites also have a jacuzzi.

Customers of both the Tropical and the Cocotal hotels share a main buffet, a restaurant on the beach (lunch buffet and thematic evenings) and seven restaurants serving a la carte, with a reservation : Chinese, vegetarian and seafood restaurants are situated near the reception (all three air-conditioned), a steak-house, a Mexican and an Italian restaurant and a pancake house. In addition, there is a gourmet restaurant (next to the Cocotal) but it costs extra. It is hard not to find food to your taste. A snack bar, open 24 hours a day awaits you, in addition to the five bars in the complex. The decor is fancy, the food is of excellent quality.  

Like the beach of Bavaro in Punta Cana (with its numerous resorts), the beach called Uvero Alto that stretches out from the hotel is clean, quiet, equipped with deck chairs, and is simply magnificent. A strip of fine white sand stretching over 400 metres is lined with coconut trees and has translucent turquoise water ... In addition, as unbelievable as it may seem, there is the wild side with almost empty buildings in the area. Hopefully, it will be there for a long time! Towels are provided (at both the beach and the swimming pool) for free.
