The hotel Atali is a family-run business where the majority of the clientele are half-boarders. Located in the seaside resort of Bali, you will doubtless be impressed by the varied Cretan landscape which surrounds it.

The club Atali Village is located on the mountainside a little under one mile from the seaside resort of Bali and its little harbour. The town of Rethymnon, which bears witness to the Turkish and Venetian presence on the island, is a mere 25 mi from the hotel. Heraklion hotel is 25 mi away.

    To know

Half the Atali's clientele is French-speaking, the other half consists of Russians and Poles. Be aware that all the activities/entertainment are in French. Open from April to October, the hotel houses a total of 160 rooms. A new building was inaugurated in 2008 and the other rooms were due to be restored during the winter of 2009.

    Overview 5.11/10

One part of the hotel is a little outdated as it has not been fully renovated since it was built in 1994, (the old-fashioned furniture in the small reception hall is an example of this). A new building, with rooms that are in a better condition, upgrades the hotel's general standards. As far as children's activities are concerned, the Atali has a children's club which is open during the summer season from 10:00am to 2:00pm, but the premises and playground are quite rudimentary. Even the miniature golf course is now outdated! The hotel's entertainment team consists of just two members of staff, but they organise darts competitions and table-tennis and waterpolo matches on a regular basis. As regards facilities, you should definitely take afdvantage of the 1,500 sq ft swimming pool and paddling pool, which are both under the permanent gaze of a life-guard.

    Accommodation 6.01/10

Single, double and triple bedrooms are all available here. 80 of them have a view of the sea, whereas the others look out directly onto other buildings - not a particularly pleasant view. The rooms all have a spacious enough balcony fitted with a plastic table and chairs. The rooms which have not yet been renovated have bathrooms fitted with showers that are not in the best condition. The renovated rooms, however, have bathtubs. In both types of room, the furniture and decoration lack character but they are functional on the whole. Amenities include a very small television, individual air-conditioning, a telephone, a radio and a safe, available for a fee.

    Food and drink 5.66/10

The buffet restaurant serves three meals a day. For lunch and dinner, two Greek specialities (fish and meat) and some twenty salads are served, as required by the Cretan diet. This is the only restaurant in the hotel, it has no terrace, but offers a rather distant view of the sea. The hotel is run according to the all-inclusive option, drinks are only to be paid for after 11:00pm. However, red wine lovers will have to restrain themselves; only white and rosé wines are served with meals. Every week, the hotel organises a Cretan night with dances, don't miss out!

    Beach 5.60/10

The hotel does not have its own beach but the public beach is just a two minute walk away. Sheltered from the wind by the surrounding mountains, it is very safe as it is located in a little bay and you can hire deckchairs and parasols there. As it is visited by guests from many of the neighbouring hotels, it is lined with taverns where you can have a pleasant meal; that is if you are not put off by the constant loud music which is not very relaxing, to say the least.
