RestThe Savana Koumba club is a lively hotel for all types of guests. Its location and services make it a privileged establishment for those who love bathing in the sea. Sports enthusiasts will find the equipment they need and holidaymakers in search of peace will enjoy its relaxation areas.
It is on the seashore, in œ the middle of Saly resort, 0.6 mile away from the village. The hotel is located some 50 miles from Dakar. The journey from Dakar airport takes 1 h 30.
The Savana Saly shares the same facilities with the Savana Koumba : swimming pool, beach, restaurants, bars and areas for sports and leisure. Only the accommodations and lobby are separated. Choose the guestrooms with a view of the park rather than those with a view of the car park.
Built in 1983, the Savana Koumba is an estate including small duplex, built in a 12-hectare park. It has 118 guestrooms on two floors, suitable for families. The park, which posts notices on all the flowers and the trees, is lovely and allows for reasonable tanning. A handicraft centre attached to a re-constituted African village is undeniably a cultural asset. Sports lovers will find many activities here, a 400 m² swimming pool and an equipped water sports centre. The beach is located down below the establishment, not far from the swimming pool. Party lovers will be satisfied since a show with a different theme is organised every evening. Note: It is the only establishment of the resort to have direct access to the casino.
While most of the rooms offer a view of the park, a few of them open on to the car park. The accommodations are uniquely single-storey duplexes with a terrace or balcony. A sitting room, with double bed, a bathroom (shower) with a toilet, is on the ground floor, and a twin-bedded room is located on the mezzanine. The rooms are spacious and very simply decorated. They have separate air conditioners and a direct telephone line, but no TV, mini-bar or safe. They are all lacking charm. They nevertheless have what is necessary. Room service is available on request.
It is unquestionably the hallmark of the Savana Koumba. The hotel has four restaurants ( which it shares with the Savana Saly ) and a bar. Located near the beach and the sports grounds, the Piroguier, the beach snack bar, can host some thirty people on its shaded terrace. At the Dauphin, the Baobab or the Espadon, the meals are served as hearty buffets, at noon and in the evening, on the terrace near the swimming pool and in the middle of park planted with trees. However, the Kalao offers an a la carte menu in the evening. The decoration is quite attractive. The variety of dishes is very attractive, and the quality makes it one of the best tables in Saly, offering international cuisine and many local specialities ( roasted fish, seafood, thieboudiene, maffé?). Do not miss the Dauphin's roasted gambas. Theme parties are organised each evening.
The hotel is right on the seashore. However, its beach is rather narrow. Well maintained, you will find mattresses, wooden deckchairs and sunshades there, near the edge of the shaded snack bar. Nevertheless, some rocks crop out on the seashore and the beaches on this side of the resort are served by a public path which cuts off the hotel from the sand. This said, the beach is under constant supervision. Like everywhere, the sea is muddy because of local streams, but absolutely suitable for bathing. The small water sports centre offers sailing, windsurfing and pedalo. You can do fishing ( for a charge ) in high season.
