Hotel Atlantis - République Dominicaine

The hotel is located at a fifteen minute walk from the tiny town of Las Terrenas. To reach it takes about four and a half hours from Santo Domingo. Thus you will cross the island, starting from its Caribbean front in the south to the entrance of the peninsula of Samana in the North-East. Despite the presence of several hotels around Las Terrenas, it has managed to preserve an completely authentic atmosphere. The people are extremely friendly and hospitable. In addition to the pleasures of the beach, you will experience the pleasure of new encounters and discover another culture.

The hotel is run by a French couple who formerly owned a restaurant on the small port in Saint Tropez. In the course of the 1990s, they came to Samana for a vacation. They fell in love with this place at first sight and subsequently returned. Three years ago, dreaming of the "French Riviera" atmosphere they decided to settle here. They sold the restaurant and their property, loaded the furniture and the children and set off for the Dominican Republic and its dreamy beaches where the pair bought the Atlantis. Note: the hotel offers a half-board service.

The hotel sits in the middle of a small park of 75347 square feet, where lush vegetation sprouts everywhere. Built in 1980, it was among the first hotels on the peninsula. But do not misjudge, successive renovations have resulted in architecture that fits neatly into this little paradise. Note; There is no television or entertainment team. Emphasis is placed on the hotel's charm, scenery and relaxation.

All 18 rooms, located on the ground floor or first floor, are simple, beautiful, large and tastefully decorated. Each room has its very own name and atmosphere. They each have a marble bathroom and you can choose between single or double rooms or double rooms with a living area.

Being rather modest, chef Gerard Prystasz doesn't like this being said, but his table is recognised as one of the most famous on the island ! It must be said that this man's CV is impressive : he was once even private chef to the French President François Mitterrand. But there is nothing to worry about, the evidence is on your plate : Gerard uses ingredients that all grow naturally on the island, mixing them up in his own way and making a fabulous blend of flavours, both Dominican and French. Taste, for example, his pasta with prawns; they have been caught that the same day, right in front of the hotel. Take the chance to eat like a president.

The Bonita beach where the Atlantis Hotel is located is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful in the country. It offers 12.5 miles of white sand and coconut trees, without any sort of building, as the site is officially protected from any construction. The reef protects it from waves and ensures that the swimmer bathes safely, in transparent and clear waters. The scenery is overwhelming and guarantees a holiday to be remembered for years ahead.
