Hotel Morabeza

The Morabeza is located on Sal Island, near downtown Santa Maria and facing the beach. The international airport of Espargos is 30 minutes by car. The hotel enjoys a very pleasant location, it is close to the city centre and facing the sea.

The hotel is being renovated as projects are underway, such as adding a spa, expanding the hotel and refurbishing the reception. Recently, the hotel opened a tapas bar, the view is very pleasant.

The Morabeza is the first and oldest hotel of Sal. Built in 1967 by a Belgian family, it was the first anchor for the staff of the South African Airways company and TAP, Cubana, Aeroflot and the TAAG. Built all of stone in the style of a "hacienda", its decoration is meant to be refined and discreet. 4 buildings are spread over an area of 4 hectares.

The Morabeza has 140 rooms, all equipped with modern amenities, television, telephone, air conditioning, a fan, refrigerator and a safe (with a charge). The decoration is intended to be simple but elegant. The wood and wrought iron are the key elements of the decoration. Everything is a little bit outdated but still clean. The bathrooms are with or without a bathtub and toilets may be separate. The bathroom is impractical because there is no storage and only one sink. Some rooms have a terrace or a balcony. The rooms on the ground floor have a terrace, but remain fairly dim. A total of 60 rooms have a view onto the sea. A little advice : ask for rooms with sea view on the ground floor, they are brighter and more pleasant.

"Les Palmiers" offers a service a la carte the evening. A restaurant on the beach serves grilled fish and barbecue at noon. Breakfast is served in buffet style, rather hearty. Three bars offer tasty Cuban and international cocktails. One is located at the Beach club, and the other bar is by the pool. The third is the Tapas bar above the restaurant "Les Palmiers".

A long (4 miles) and wide sandy beach faces the hotel. The water is clear and no rocks will mistreat the feet. At the Beach Club, you will find deckchairs and towels (with a charge).
