Hotel Delfin Mar

The hotel is 150m from Santa Ponça beach, a relatively calm seaside resort with a charming bay, and just over 12 mi to the west of Palma. The airport is 15,5 mi away and you should expect 35 minutes to get there.

Guests of the Delfin Mar enjoy access to the facilities of the Delfin Siesta Mar, another establishment owned by the Majorcan hotel group Delfin Hotels, located a little further up, around a hundred meters away. The latter is an all-inclusive establishment that offers less peace and quiet than the Siesta Mar and its half-board formula.
There is no entertainment and leisure activities are pretty much limited to petanque, billiards and table tennis. Free Wifi Internet access is available in the lobby. There is a conference room for meetings and a set of scales so you can weigh your luggage to make sure you won't be over the limit when you catch your flight home. The hotel closes on the 31st of October and opens again in the beginning of February. There is no car park and it's not always easy to find a place nearby.

The Delfin Mar's 89 rooms occupy a 4 storey building with a pink facade and two lifts. Once past the reception desk and the lobby, guests arrive at the pool. It's a standard rectangular affair of modest dimensions. It is open from 8:00am till 8:00pm, and its depth varies between 1m30 and 1m85. There is also small 22in-deep paddling pool for children. There is only just a little room around it to lay out some deck chairs or sunshades (white fabric or thatched). The is an artificial waterfall on an ivy-covered wall, which adds a lot of charm. In winter, guests have access to the 1m20-deep heated indoor swimming pool. Next to the pool there is a small standard fitness room with a jacuzzi and a sauna (extra charge).

The Delfin Mar includes 89 rooms that boast light beige tiling and a big painting, as well as a small desk and a mirror, a double bed, a single bed, an armchair and wardrobes with mirror doors. They all have individual air conditioning, a small satellite television set (20 channels) with no remote control (you must ask for one at the reception desk and pay a 8,5 pound deposit), a safe with a key (10 pounds per week), a direct telephone line and a large balcony with two white plastic chairs, a small table and a line to hang up your laundry. All of them look out onto the beach of Santa Ponça. Unfortunately, none of them have a refrigerator. The bathroom is spacious and contains a bathtub equipped with a handle and a flexible shower, toilets, a wall-mounted shower gel dispenser, a comb, shoe polish, and a hair dryer.

The Delfin Mar has a buffet restaurant with a capacity of 100 guests. The tables are too close to each other and the spot is relatively noisy. In fact, it sounds like a school canteen! An advantage it has over its sister establishment, the Delfin Siesta Mar, is that you can sit and eat on the terrace next to the pool. Breakfast is served from 8:00am to 10.30am and dinner from 7:00pm till 9.00pm. There is no lunch service. A rather tasteless and unvaried International cuisine is what is on offer. Guests just have to be patient and wait for the Thursday evening Majorcan meal! The all-inclusive formula is available from 11:00am to 11:00pm at the poolside bar and in the lobby bar in the evenings. Teatime is from 4:00pm to 6:00pm, with tea, coffee and biscuits.

Santa Ponça beach is 150m from the hotel. Quite crowded and not all that big, it has plastic deck chairs under thatched sunroofs, as well as showers, a beach volley pitch and some bars and restaurants. You can also try your hand at several nautical sports. The water is supervised by lifeguards and a flag indicates the safety level for bathing. The beach is beautiful with crystal clear water and a gorgeous setting in a bay surrounded by forests and hills.
