Hotel Reef Oasis Beach Resort

The Reef Oasis is one and a hlaf miles south of Sharm el Sheikh, at a place called Ras Um Sid and 18 and a hlaf miles from the Ras Mohammed submarine reserve. Beyond that, the surrounding area consists of a freeway and a giant construction site, which is constantly under development.

It is wise to rent a car because the region is quite remote The rapid urbanisation could very quickly change the look of the area. The Reef Oasis is mostly frequented by Italians.

Open in August 1998, the hotel is built on a vast ground, several feet above sea level. Composed of a multitude of buildings housing a total of 614 rooms, it is characterised by different architectural styles, reflecting the changing mood of its Italian architect. Despite the evident effort focused on the external decoration, the gardens need more care.

The hotel offers only one type of room at the moment (suites with private pools are under construction). Very spacious, they are decorated with carefully selected copper-red and navy blue tiles, and brown wooden furniture. They are equipped with individually controlled air conditioning, television (27 channels), a telephone line for direct overseas calls, a safe (for free) and a terrace overlooking the gardens or the swimming pool. A common safe is available (no charge) for guests at the reception. The bathroom has a shower and a hairdryer.

The hotel has four restaurants. The main restaurant on two levels (100 seats on the terrace, 300 on the first floor, 400 on the ground floor), offers a variety of buffets for all three meals of the day. A second restaurant (250 seats) serves a buffet of Italian specialties. Then there is a grill restaurant (150 seats), a snack bar on the beach and five bars (by the pool, at reception or under the large, charming tent, with coffee tables and wooden benches).

The beach is located some two miles further down from the hotel. It is quite far from the reception and some of the rooms (about 5 minutes by foot) and accessible down quite a few steps. Equipped with deckchairs and sunshades, it offers a magnificent view onto the Ras Mohammed natural park, particularly at sunset. A Bedouin tent is pitched there. There are no sports and water activities.
