NatureThis hotel is a large, wood and stone chalet, perfect for nature lovers who will have the chance to explore the forest, day and night, and may even meet the stags that inhabit it. Sports enthusiasts will also be delighted with so many activities available - you can even do one a day!
The Club Scanditours Pohtimo Hotel is located out in the wild, in Sinettä, a half-hour drive north-west from Rovaniemi.
The hotel is also known as Lapland Hotel Bear's Lodge.
The activities offered to you will depend on the type of holiday you booked: snowmobile rides, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, or dogsled trips, etc.
Games and books are also at the guests' disposal next to the fire place in the reception hall.
The staff lend torches to adventurers wanting to scout about the forest after nightfall, and
full cold-weather equipment is lent to every guest throughout their stay.
The hotel is a large wood and stone chalet lost in the middle of the forest overlooking a lake. It consists of a reception hall, which is also used as a dining room, with a fire place for those who get easily cold, a bar for those who get thirsty and some little tables where some people play scrabble and others wait to go on an excursion, or consult their e-mails on the hotel computer that is made available. If there is not enough room for everyone, there is a large reception hall upstairs, which is used for groups and as a second dining hall, that is much much stylishly decorated and laid out. Whereas the three indoor saunas and tiny pool are at the guests' disposal free of charge, private wood-heated saunas can be hired outside. The latter are even equipped with a little stairway leading the way to the freezing lake. A further possibility is to hire a private sauna complete with a lounge and fireplace. In order for this not to become too expensive, it is best to come here as a group, or get together with other customers. Outside, other than the chalets around the lake, you will find a playground for children, which is only to be used in the summer, and a chalet dedicated to outdoor activities. Guests can borrow ice-skating boots for free to go out onto the frozen lake, as well as cross-country skis and snowshoes to explore the surrounding countryside.
Standard rooms can accommodate two people, plus a child or two on the convertible sofa, but a family of four may get a little cramped in such a room. We recommend that families hire a 'family' room with a mezzanine on which two single beds are laid out. As for facilities, there is plenty of room to put your coats, leggings and gloves away so that they do not invade the room space. The television, although it has been installed up high, can actually be quite a treat after a long day of exercise. The decoration is absolutely typical of ski apartments with a lot of wood, colourful curtains and a desk for the children's homework. As for the bathrooms they are simple, with a shower, a soap dispenser and a hair-dryer.
Independent chalets can also be booked: located around the lake, they offer families a different type of holiday - more independent and as noisy as they wish it to be without disturbing anyone else. They are also very spacious and can accommodate up to 10 people.
The hotel's main restaurant displays the usual chalet decor; large wooden tables, bright-coloured check curtains, a large fireplace, and, of course, the convivial atmosphere which goes with it. One meat dish, one fish dish, greens and carbohydrates, salad, soup and a dessert are served as a buffet for breakfast, lunch and dinner! The food is rather ordinary and not very refined, but the good thing is that you will not feel hungry when leaving the table and it is possible to eat healthy as well as satisfying food. Self-service tea and coffee facilities are also available. Meals are different every day and you will always be presented with a local speciality along with a notice explaining the origin of the dish
