Hotel Imperial

Downtown, 500 m away from the seafront. Valetta is located 3 miles away ( a 15 minute trip ) and the airport 5 miles away ( a 25 minute trip ).

The Imperial is a charming hotel that offers few services, but comfort of a very good value for the money. Do not hesitate to choose it if you want to have a cultural stay. A regular bus line near the hotel will take you to Valetta. From there, still by bus, you can go around the entire island.

The Imperial is located in an old 19th century hunting area. Its sophisticated architecture begins from the lobby with a marble floor which opens onto a double wrought iron stairway. As for the tones, ochre and beige prevail : the atmosphere is relaxing even on the shaded terrace adjacent to the swimming pool. Like all the swimming pools of the city hotels, this one has a modest size, but it is lined by a nicely laid out solarium : sunshades and deckchairs are available. The only downside : it is surrounded by nearby buildings ; so the swimming pool unfortunately does not have a sea view.

The 95 rooms are spacious, with high ceilings and a fancy furniture. They have a lounge area from which you have access onto a small balcony. The decoration is sober ( white walls brightened up by paintings, Provencal fabrics hangings ). There's nothing to say about the amenities: satellite television, direct telephone and a complete bathroom are available. There is no mini-bar; on the other hand, there is a tea/coffee kit.

The restaurant is one of the nicest places in the hotel. The room with a softened decoration is lit by many wall lights on the ceiling. It's a pity however that there is no terrace. Breakfast is served buffet style. The other meals are presented at the table or   as a buffet. Meat, fish and pasta, prepared the Maltese way, are sometimes a bit tasteless. But there are many restaurants with a variety of cuisines nearby the hotel.
