The Esmeralda Resort is located at the end of the Orient Bay hotel area, close to the beach, a 5 minute drive away from Grand Case restaurants, 7.5 miles away (30 minutes) from Juliana international airport, 6 miles away from Marigot, the ?French capital?and 5 miles away from Philipsburg the Dutch ?capital?.

Only the rooms of villas 46 and 47 have a view of the Atlantic.

The establishment is made up of 18 villas of 2 to 5 rooms each. Spread out on a well maintained estate, with bougainvillea flowers and carpeted by a mowed lawn, they look like individual pastel houses, with mild green roofs and bright yellow walls. A swimming pool with jacuzzi is to be used jointly with the neighbours. At the entrance of the facilities, the terrace of the Astrolabe restaurant (excellent) opens on to another swimming pool. A few steps away is the Coco Beach, a large colourful hut built on the beach, where you can have lunch. You reach it by skirting a huge rock that hides the Esmeralda from the view of swimmers. The welcoming lobby is also in a villa organised in a comfortable Balinese style.

The rooms are large, soberly but lively arranged (orange and rose fabrics, madras), with orange-brown coloured tiles on the floor and towering ceiling with visible roof framing, simple white rattan furniture in the rooms and Indonesian style furniture made of dark wood in the suites. There is a kitchenette with electric hotplates, refrigerator and coffee maker, air-conditioning and ceiling fan, satellite television. The bathrooms, with shower or bathtub, are spacious and tiled in green from the floor to the ceiling. Hairdryer and enough welcome products, laundry line, beach towels are available. Hi-fi system in the suites. You can borrow a barbecue that you can enjoy on the large teak terrace equipped with a table and chairs facing the swimming pool (with deckchairs and sunshades) to share with your neighbours.

The Esmeralda?s gourmet restaurant, the Astrolabe, renowned on the island, serves fine French, Creole and other cuisine. As well as the Vietnamese beef œ steak nem, the tuna steak with mashed olive or the famous rack of lamb with Provencal flavours. Needless to say, the Rochelois chef is talented. The dishes cost from 11 to 25 euros. There are decent wines, especially American and Chilian ones, on the menu. The place, a Creole building in pastel hues with a view of the small terrace and its small swimming pool, is also a breakfast room and serves as a bar. An orchestra once a week in season.

The Orient Bay beach is next to the Esmeralda estate. It is the longest and liveliest beach in Saint-Martin. Stretching over more than 2 miles of fine sand, it is suitable for all categories of visitors: families, sportsmen, trendies and even nudists in its southernmost part. Unquestionably, it is also the best equipped beach of the island, with its several water sports centres one of which is quite close (with water scooters and parakites), massage booths and a Nathalie Simon windsurfing club. On the hotel's sand perimetre are deckchairs and sunshades. You could also have lunch on the beautiful Coco Beach, a big hut made of Parma wood with an imposing teak terrace planted on the sand. On the menu: excellent Creole cuisine. Close to it, do not miss Thursday night banquets at the Boo Boo Jam, a dancing restaurant attended by Saint-Martinese.
