CharmThe only hotel located directly on the beach at the heart of this lively seaside resort, the charming Tamarindo Diria attracts tourists through its facilities and its decor, incorporating various natural materials, its beautiful gardens and its large trees. As far as the beach is concerned, times passes pleasantly by to the sounds of the waves and the smells of the sea.

The Tamarindo Diria hotel is located right at the heart of the small seaside resort of Tamarindo. The closest international airport is Liberia, which is 45 mi away (1 hour by car).San José airport is 4-5 hours away by car or a 45-minute flight.
Once a month a rock concert is organised in front of the swimming pool. Don't be surprised by the number of Hindu statues dotted around the resort - the first Hindu owners wanted it that way.
Accommodation advice:
If you like to be rocked by the sound and smells of the sea, request a beachside room! If you are a light sleeper, opt instead for a less expensive garden-side room!
The long, historical part of the Tamarindo Diria covers 985 ft between the beach and the main road in the resort. On the other side, once you have successfully negotiated the traffic, the other part of the resort provides much different, more standardised and airy surroundings. Though the latter is pleasant and more modern, it doesn't have the same unquestionable charm as the older part on the seafront. Built in1973 and renovated many times since, the seafront Tamarindo Diria is now surrounded by shops and restaurants. Between the two wings (in line parallel to the road) which house the accommodation you will find communal areas concentrated in the same area: small reception, bar, rectangular swimming pool surrounded by deckchairs, paddling pool and, almost right at your feet, the sea These areas are all carefully laid out and feature lots of wood, natural stone, interesting Hindu statues and beautiful vegetation. In the Tropical Garden, holiday-makers will have the opportunity to enjoy a much larger, greener area which opens up in the middle with one of the largest lagoon pools in the state of Guanacaste (topped off with a jacuzzi).
The Tamarindo Diria has 183 identically decorated bedrooms with large balconies. The entrance to the historical buildings is on the road side (which is rather noisy!) so as to make the best of the views of the blue waves from the bedrooms. The 60 bedrooms on the garden side are more spacious and quieter but they are also further from the entertainment at the hotel and the beauty of the beach. They have all been recently renovated. The bedrooms have a television, a free safe deposit box, a mini-bar, a telephone, individual air-conditioning and a fan. The decor is pleasant and features orange and white-painted walls dotted with raised leaves on grey concrete squares, terracotta flooring and mosaic inlays which are also found in the bathroom. Room service is available between 10am and 10pm.
Guests have a choice between two restaurants, each with a different atmosphere. In the Tropical Garden, the new Diria restaurant can accommodate a large number of people in a closed space. Breakfast is served here in the form of a buffet between 6am and 10am. It is also open in the evening. The open-air Matapalo à la carte restaurant overlooks the sea, where guests can listen to the sound of the waves, and is shaded, on the terrace or under the enormous conical bamboo roof. On the menu: pastas, meat, fish and vegetarian dishes. A main course will cost around £11.50! A little bonus: the tiny Nari cafe, which serves various cakes for you to enjoy.
A very substantial and rare advantage: the Tamarindo Diria logically has private access to the supervised beach. Located right at the edge of the fine, white sand, it is nice to take a stroll along the very long, wide and rather level Tamarindo beach. A few deckchairs and parasols are provided for your comfort both on the beach and on the lawn at the hotel. Relaxation guaranteed overlooking the blue waves! You will notice some easily avoidable rocks and coral in the clear waters.Private clubs on the beach offer various water sports. The area is ideal for those who want to try their hand at surfing.
