Hotel Palmyre

The Palmyre, built on the side of the hill, dominates the palm tree cove and the El Jerid chott. It is located west, at the end of the hotel zone, 2.5 miles away from downtown and 2 miles away from the airport (allow between 5 and 10 minutes for the transfer).

Close to the hotel, with a supplement, it is possible to play tennis, rent a bicycle, ride a horse, have a hike on dromedary back or in a carriage. On site, the hotel organises open air club evenings: be careful to the noise!

Thanks to its garden and its typical architecture, all in vaults and bricks, the Palmyre is a green and refreshing stop. Built in 1993 in a 15 acre park, the hotel has a terrace and a swimming pool (heated in winter) that offer a magnificent view of the desert and the palm cove. Have a drink at sunset at the bar of the swimming pool.

The 101 air conditioned rooms are sober and equipped with a minibar, satellite television and a telephone with direct line. Most of the bathrooms are equipped with a shower, some of them have a bathtub. Ask for the rooms on the first floor: they have view over the palm cove and the desert.

The hotel has two restaurants: a buffet for half board offering good quality food, and a gastronomic à la carte restaurant (choice of 10 first courses, 11 main courses, and 4 desserts). The drink menu offers many Tunisian wines. Occasionally, the Palmyre can open 8 Berber tents and organise folkloric dinners or North African style barbecue parties.
